Swapping electronic ignition

I think I have narrowed down my current rough running probelms down to the optical switch in my Lumenition Optronic Ignition System.

These are about £80 to replace which is therefore a similar price as the Lumenition Magnetronic system.

Which would be the best route to go?  I guess replacing the optical switch (like for like) would be the easiest.  However could then face similar problems in the future.  If I did replace with the Magnetronic system are there any pitfalls I should be aware of?

Hello

I have recently had a very similar problem. I investigated many avenues and the choice is a little bewildering. I went onto ebay and found a system on there. The guys name is Bestek, and he has an ebay shop. I gave him a ring and i would reccomend you do the same. He is a top guy. In short i got a complete set up including a new dizzy for £175 +postage. I can not sing this guys praises enough. I had the same system as you and it was good but this is awesome. I really recomend you give it a look. It took me longer to strip the old system out than it did to fit and set up the new one!!

Cheers Ian,   :t-up:

However I have been in touch with Lumenition and they are going to check my current system to confirm whether either the power unit or optic eye are the problem.

Or whether I was completly wrong and have to start looking elsewhere.  :(  :(

Another  :t-up:  for Bestek, been using his system on my Cossy for 8000 miles now...never a problem.

I have a spare Bestek Bosch Pinto DIzzy and ECU for sale if someone needs one.
