Bananaman Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 Anybody know of a digital Secrurity camera? Thinking about drive/trailer security Quote
peterg Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 Andy, there's been a recent discussion on BC about this...clicky here If you want to contact anyone on there let me know and I'll PM your email addy Quote
DerekJ Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 With this kind of stuff, ya-pays-ya-money-and-takes-ya-pick. Depends what you want it to do. Record on movement? constant live video? See your driveway live over the Internet on your PDA while you are in work? Either way, what are you going to do with the videos? Not much point giving them to the police as the hoodie's already got your stuff and you can't see enough detail to see who it is (see Sod's law chapter 125.7.2.9). May as well invest in a big chain bolted down to the driveway or an FBD (F#*~ingBigDog) Cheers DJ Quote
DAVE O Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 If you use cctv you need to paint 'LOOK UP' on the ground under the camera and guess what they always do. I've seen it done and you get some cracking results.... Quote
spence Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 How much you got to spend? We use this supplier . http://www.tsscctv.com/ All depends on what you want system to do, area coverage, lighting etc etc etc........ cheap i.e micromark is a false economy. Police don't just use faces they use body movements, features etc etc etc. Give me a idea and i might be able to point you in the right direction Quote
vodkatart Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 http://www.y3kvision.com/acatalog/ try these iv used them for the home and they work fine. i use my PC for recording the images. Quote
spence Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 Could always use driveway bollards as a cheaper alternative and anchor trailer with a big heavy chain and hook sunk into ground. The more you do regarding security to your property etc makes you less of a target and doesn't always have to be expensive. Adding cheap security lights are always a winner and cheap and easy to fit. A good dummy camera like this ( the one on the left) http://www.abcfireandsecurity.co.uk/cctv.htm Not like this http://www.diytools.co.uk/Product....3;CS11D Just remove the box with flashing light and replace with a normal electrical box. Flashing lights on CCTV cameras are generally fake, I'm yet to see a real one ( don't tell anybody i told you so ). A good dummy will not have wires coming out of it but conduit. I should be able to get these cameras for you cheaper. It's what i use and they look pretty convincing. Once had police asking if they could look at my CCTV video after an incident out side my house Quote
pistonbroke Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 Dont waste your hard earned ! Friend of mine had a £1200 pound outboard motor stolen off his speedboat in his back yard , all caught on camera , thieves even left behind the tools they used for the job . Police came , looked at the video evidence which clearly identified the culprits . The Police verdict ......... Sorry , we do not have the resources to follow this up Fact of life Unless the theives are known to the police they will not waste valuable police time trying to identify em ! Any theiving barsteward with previous form will have the nouse to "cover up" Quote
Bananaman Posted November 29, 2006 Author Posted November 29, 2006 I like that along with some security lights and some F-OFF Bollards............. Quote
Derby Allen Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 I have recently had my car broken into on my drive, they emptied my boot and also found my Garage door remote that was hidden in the car, they then got into my garage and pinched my sons Quad bike, I have since installed a camera system that is Infra red with motion detection, the system was not expensive but works well enough for me, although as stated the police will probably do nothing, it gives me piece of mind that if they come back i will have a better idea of how many there are etc, hopefully if it is possible to identify them it would give me the oppotunity to track them down and have a few polite words with them....... my fear is they know now i have a Westfield sat in the garagem i was just glad it was on axle stands at the time, I can let you have details of what i purchased if it helps, also the best tip i can give is to add PIR security lights so if these are set off the night vision is 100% better, should have also mention they record direct to an external harddrive on detection etc etc. Quote
karlgurney Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 If your gonna buy a dummy camera like that one don't make the mistake they have and mount the wired box more inboard of the wall, its obvious the wires can't be routed into the ajoining wall. Quote
timd Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 I like that along with some security lights and some F-OFF Bollards............. If you ring 090 6343 0210 do they answer the phone with "Hello, Fake Security Cameras Ltd, how can I help you?".. Quote
