Quote from the BARC as follows.....

BARC ACQUIRES OPERATION OF CROFT CIRCUIT

8th November 2006

The British Automobile Racing Club (BARC) is pleased to

announce the acquisition of Croft PromoSport Ltd. (CPS), whose

principal function is the day to day operation of Croft Circuit, a part of

the Croft Estate in the North of England.

Dennis Carter the Chief Executive of the BARC said “The

acquisition is a natural progression for the club, broadening the

geographical spread of our existing circuit activities and further

enhancing the club’s standing within the industry. Croft is an important

facility serving a large catchment area in the North of England and

complements our existing hill climb at Harewood House in the south of

the region. I am pleased to say that the agreement will see both the Croft

Estate and the BARC working together in to the future and will enable

the further development of facilities on the site. I am also pleased to say

that the existing management team and staffing arrangements at Croft are

to remain in place, making the acquisition and change of ownership

seamless. ”

Trevor Chaytor-Norris whose family own Croft said, “We are very

pleased to have entered into a long term agreement with the BARC by

them taking over CPS. The BARC have formed the spine of British

motorsport since their inception in 1912 and they bring a high level of

expertise that will ensure the continued success of Croft as a major motor

and motorcycle sport venue. Over the last twelve years, with the support

of an excellent team, run by the family and Chaired by Peter Gaydon,

Croft has been brought back to the forefront of British motorsport venues.

Croft first hosted race meetings in the late 1940’s on the old bomber

aerodrome runways. Now the purpose built venue hosts rounds of both

The British Touring Car Championship and The British Superbike

Championship. I am sure that the BARC will help bring about a new and

exciting chapter in Croft’s illustrious history.”

Hello RHB,

I agree, Croft is a great circuit! We did a double header there last year, I remember there was some good scraping between us along with Paul, Martin, and Derek Brooks. I made my first ever overtaking  there.... Woohoo!!!!

I would have thought that as it's now under BARC control and we missed it this year there is a very good chance that we'll go back in 2007.

Hope your well mate...

Hi, I'm fine, should be working but its friday..............got a new nose cone yet.....?

I ready enjoyed croft it was good fun, i seem to remember someone coming past me and then attempting grass cutting?.......can't think who that was.....

I also have a lovely picture of my daughter with me in the paddock at croft that the autosport photographer snapped.

Hopefully we will go back...its just such a long way to drive so its got to be 2 races.

Yes.... Sunny in and all the way out again...  I'm bring triple gang mowers with me next time!

I have the nose cone but it's not fitted yet, I'm picking up a new radiator next week (along with a spare), would like to tidy the car up a bit but that's about all.... oh, I'd like to get a new full height seat.

Does anyone else have any winter plans for car 'enhancements'?

Are you guys BARC Westfield racers?

If so, can any of you tell me if the series now uses 1600 Zetec SE engines as an option for the race cars?

Thanks

John

for the 750MC series you can run the Zetec SE with I think 30mm (might be 32mm) chokes in 40s

At present, no, the 1600 Zetec SE engine is not allowed in the racing series. There has however been talk of introducing the new model Westfield (which uses this engine). As far as I know, this is still only talk and nothing has happened in reality yet.  You might like to contact Richard Smith at the factory and find out what is happening. If you do find out please let us all know wont you.  ???

Thanks Keith (and CI). So it like that the is it? I thought things were much further down the line than that.
