windy Posted November 4, 2006 Posted November 4, 2006 Ref. my earlier post regarding Sprint play day in Jan - some of you have emailed me hoping that I fix a date that doesn't clash with your skiing holidays. It then occurred to me "Is this the sprinters substitute for events in the off season"? Seems to me skiing might be good medicine to keep the speed reflexes in check / to practise opposite lock techniques / racing lines. And I guess the apres ski is similar to the paddock parties we get at SS events. Would be interesting to know stats for skiers experience / vs success at the Speed Series? i.e. does good at skiing mean you are a better driver? Discuss. Quote

DickieB Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 I have competed in the British National Cross Country Ski Championships, and have also raced downhill a few times (and slalom, Super G and G). Does that answer your question? Quote
John Loudon - Sponsorship Liaison Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 NO! It confirms what we thought.... Quote
ACW Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 What we need is a SS Ski Trip. Perhaps with a competitive slalom event. I ski, but I dont do cross country, Skiing is strictly gravity asssited 4me. Quote
DickieB Posted November 5, 2006 Posted November 5, 2006 Shall we start with the double black runs at Whistler? I really enjoyed those back in March. Quote
windy Posted November 5, 2006 Author Posted November 5, 2006 How about a biathlon - ski down a mountain to Chamonix, then jump in the westies for a bit of ice racing on their purpose made track. Quote
Keith the Teeth Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 You could try: http://www.donpalmer.co.uk/news.htm Personally I was considering taking up water skiing in readyness for Ty Croes and Barkstone Quote
DickieB Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 I tried go karting on ice last winter at Val D'Isere. It was just set up in a field - no crash barriers, just snow drifts. It was awesome fun, but very very cold. Quote
