windy Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 Dear All, Just judging interest for now. Please shout loud if you are up for this? We are making noises at work to run a suspension setup day & play day sprint course on an airfield in Essex. It's currently in the planning stages & will likely take place in January 2007 before the sprint season starts. If it gets the go ahead the WSCC will be the first ones to get invited. The deal is: Sat / Sun i.e. a weekend (one day) use of the far end of a 2 mile runway with a course of cones / natural curves on access roads set up as a sprint course. Use of suspension set up equipment to include corner weights / laser suspension alignment / vehicle hoist in a workshop undercover & nearby to the runway. After setup people can try their changes on the sprint course / come back make more changes / go out & repeat the excercise. Possible use of Racelogic Vboxes for timing / data measurement for the techies amongst you but no "official" timing will take place. Possible use of the on site canteen at lunch time. Cost estimated at £20 - £30 per person but there may even be no charge depending on how many "outsiders" are interested. Note I've been here myself & can confirm it is a good place to do some testing, vast expanses of concrete & tarmac & nothing but grass run off. Please indicate your interest & confirm with a PM? Cheers Graham Quote
mark.anson Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 Cant believe nobody has replied to this offer yet Windy. Sound like a top do to me. Essex is way too far for me to travel to make it viable, but im suprised those darn Sarf haven taken this up...yet. Mark Quote

windy Posted November 1, 2006 Author Posted November 1, 2006 Reason for weekend in January is that this is the only time the venue isn't going to be used by the gliding club. They usually have sole use of the airfield at weekends you see. I'm sure there'll be plenty of hot drinks & a warm workshop to warm up the wimps amongst us. Anyway I thought Essex was the coldest part of the UK during the winter. Us hardy southerners are used to it Quote

Tigger Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 Windy, I'd be up for this one, being in Essex does have some benefits you know. I'm sure there will be plenty of comments on the other benefits - lol Will also put this on the Essex forum with a link to this post - ok? PM Sent Tigger Quote
Guest Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 I'm interested in this too, but i haven't got the first clue about operating the setup equipment... will there be an operator to assist or is it all left to us to operate? I'm just a bit worried that i'll end up taking far too much time with the equipment if i'm left to figure it out myself. Tim Quote
