scott beeland Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 Bad luck to Robbo on popping an engine Again??? Jeeezus... He needs to put a car engine in the thing Quote
Northampton Motorsport Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 Saturday was my first birkett experience actually driving rather than supporting and it was fantastic. i can only describe it as the most mental track day with overtaking allowed in any manner in any place possible. Example, on one lap I was lining up a Saxo, Healy 3000 and an Accord type R for a dive down the inside at luffied only to be overtaken myself by 2 radicals one either side who then proceeded to pass all the aforementioned cars as well!! Just to give you a flavour of the event, 51 teams and 254 cars ranging from slicks and winged screamers to to 1920's thumpers. I met one guy inscrutineering who had a 1925 GN twin cylinder 2.5 ltr car when asked what it revved to he said around 3,000 and when flat out in top a cylinder fires every 5 feet!! Quote
Buzz Billsberry Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 Yep it was a great day I was with Team Genesis in garage 12c next to the Westfield boys>they had the old BTCC veteran Dave Brodie in a Green Sierra Cosworth in the same garage. I spent a happy 6 hours as a spotter sat on me chair, chrome coffee ipod and happily snapping away sat at the side of the bridge. The thing that impressed me about the day was the standard of drive it was very good. Only down side of the day, was I’d not realised I’d broken my flask and was drinking chrome coffee for a while!! Top day Buzz Quote
simon4007 Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 I was there with the Northampton Motorsports guys, had a cracking time - I spent a bit of time helping out on the pit wall but mostly I was taking it all in and enjoying the banter and usual great camaraderie that is always present at club motorsport, and particularly in the Westfield series. My respect goes to all the teams and drivers that took part, especially the 8 Westfield lads who were all up against it at one time or another. Well done to Troy and the NMS lads who kept all the wheels turning, it really was quite some feat! As Buzz says the standard of driving was exemplary and it was quite amazing to see so much clean racing in a field so large. Well done once again to all !! Quote
Keith Scarfe Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 Well done all. Do you have any results you could post. Where did the mentioned teams come overall/handicap. Quote
Northampton Motorsport Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 Dont mention the handicap. it is a system only understood by strange looking 750mc officials who sit in darkened rooms all day. i think team northampton motorsport finished 15th on the road helped by your old partner jonathan hawkins as team manager, but when the handicap was applied i think we finished some time on sunday morning!! starter Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 I was there as well ( Team 28) It really is a great event to take part in and considering the size of the grid there were very few incidents. A brief moment below that 'nearly' involved one of our drivers here Quote
Mark Stanton Posted October 30, 2006 Author Posted October 30, 2006 That could have been very nasty ................. Quote

Keith Scarfe Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 QUOTE but when the handicap was applied i think we finished some time on sunday morning!! I know exactly what you mean. It always seems to be the regular 750 old boys who seem to do surprisingly well when it comes to the handicap results and our type cars that come last. Hmmmm Quote
stever Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 Team Genesis started 14th on the grid and finished overall 8th.... all without me, as Buzz says. Thanks to Team Manger Paul Aspden, Dave, Ade and Andy and Buzz for great support but absolutely no sympathy (what you expect with a BEC?). I'll be be back ! Quote
scott beeland Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 A brief moment below that 'nearly' involved one of our drivers here Big Brown trouser moment Quote
