Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings to our friends in the north but I have received notice of a proposal from Derbys CC for a 50mph speed limit on the Snake Pass from Glossop to the A6013 :(

We are experiencing a lot of additional limits coming into force through local councils now that they have the right to do so, either new limits or extended existing ones.  As their ability to collect fines for traffic offences increases we can expect more still. :(

The latest trick round here is also to put rumble strips of cobbles across the full road width at the point where they give advance warning of a speed limit, i.e. whilst still 100 meters or so into the derestricted zone and therefore in the braking and accelerating areas.  I really question the legality of this as I believe it is downright dangerous, especially for bikes, as there is no separate warning of what you are about to hit before you get there. :(  :(

Rant over, but I am looking for a season ticket to the local circuit! :)

Oh well, I guess you can treat the new limit with the same contempt as you might have treated the old one.  :D

A new road in West Malling in Kent has just been finished after years of frustration driving on a single carriageway.

The nice new Dual carriageway, clear road, safety barriers, no pedestrian walkways as far as i can see etc etc................50mph.

I can do NSL on a winding country road, yet this road 50mph :bangshead:

Ummmm getting ready for speed camera's me finks, lots of potential cash to be made here.
