JeffC Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 yep just an old airfield with amazing grip from the concrete surface .. we were only doing a trackday.. the layout that day had a good variation of high and low speed corners and a straight that is quicker than the one at Croft. one thing I did notice and I dont know if it was driving technique or tyres making the difference but I was a lot quicker through and getting out of the tighter corners anyway lets get back to the car on the video that video is hosted by dunlop injection is it a promotion for dunlop tyres If thats how good they are I ll have 2 sets please click on the video of the SR8 slashing the record around the ring that mkes the csr look pedestrian .... fooooooooo**ing awesome Quote
a4drk Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 is that definatley a csr260? just the reg plate indicates a 53 plate, and im fairly confident that the csr didnt come out until early last year??? plus csr's dont have the intake scoop. but its got csr front wheel arches and stoopid whiskers.is that my anorak on the peg? I'm going to agree with oioi on this one. If you look at a pic of an 06 plate CSR 260 is got carbon fibre cycle wings & 2 angled spoiler things on the side of the nose cone. also - I put the reg number (KL 53 FHF) into the RAC's data search to see if it would give you more info than just "Caterham", & that number is registered to a White Mini Cooper ! Guest Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 you only have to look at the dash ............ it looks like an r400 racer with a duratec fitted .......... could be a 300bhp + motor in there ......... Quote
stu999 Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 Well, it aint 'road-going'. it hasnt even got any rear lights! Quote
moody Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 looking at it again, there is also a cutout on the drivers side of the bonnet where the filter for whatever engine that used to be in it was when the exhaust was on the other side (probably used to be k-series). also, and im no expert but seeing as moody here claims to be but is blatantly talking out of A*** i shall hazard a guess, thats a narrow chassi and all csr's are widebody chassis. so i reckon its got sweet FA to do with a csr260. sorry moody but please get your facts straight I think you are talking out of your A***. Your guess is wrong, take another look at the front inboard suspension, only CSR chassis has this. So it can't be a Superlight chassis, but yes the bonnet is probably from a SV cat, thus K series. I presume you wouldn't know this either, but the SV chassis was renowned for its ease of setting up and handling characteristics. Oh, by the way Rob Jenkinson the driver of said CSR, is a Cosworth Masters driver (CSR) and doing quite well, which could explain a bit more oioi Quote
nikpro Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 It's quick though, would be good to see it go head to head with an XTR2/4 and a Dax Rush busa turbo XTR2 did it in 1.22.6 so was quite a bit slower. Quote
cng1 Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 Inboard suspension is just a matter of fitting the freestyle kit, which had been around for at least 3 years prior to the CSR coming out. Regardless of what it is that is a race car not a road and especially not a factory standard car. Quote
scott beeland Posted October 25, 2006 Author Posted October 25, 2006 I'd poull up a chair and crack a Stella normally at this point....But I think I'll hit my pit instead. What have I started?? Quote
oioi Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 seeing as im bored and feeling antagonistic as chris said the freestyle kit has been about for a few years now. if you look at how the driver fills the cockpit, closeness to the half doors, other arm over the tunnel then it looks like a narrow car to me. if you look at someone sat in an SV/CSR then there shoulders (mostly!) are not nearly so close to the sides. Im with harv, most likely a racecar witha duratec fitted. dont get me wrong mighty fine and quick. just not a standard csr260 thats all. Quote
oioi Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 those nice people over on fatchat seem to agree with me Quote

JeffC Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 well if that is a race spec car, that will be similar stamp to the 300bhp duratec c/van myself and the northeast boys watched lamping round Croft last week , he was quicker by a good 4 secs + a lap than my car and it didnt look as though he was on the limit that car was one of the quickest things Ive seen lap my local circuit and the car that has got me thinking that cec may be the way forward Quote

moody Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 I'd agree it shouldn't be classed as a road car, but race csr's have a cage. That dash is the same as race version CSR's. Also, when Rob climbs in it does look wide to me. It probably is Caterham/Hyperion's test car, which is more or less a track oriented CSR, which will be as quick as a race version. oioi It doesn't read to me on blatchat that they reckon its a narrow body with a Duratec not at all, but they do reckon it shouldn't be classed as a road car. The reason why I'm pretty sure it's a CSR, is because it's yellow, most early CSR's came from Caterham in that colour I believe, also the inboard suspension (not sure that Caterham/Hyperion would put their name against a Freestyle suspension in such a case), also from the rear it looks like a wide body (more distinctive than the narrow) and finally because Hyperion say it's a CSR(Hyperion would have no need to lie).
