scott beeland Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 Caterham vid Click on "thrills" then click video speed for your connection/download speed...And watch in awe Quote
steve_m Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 Is this another Caterham special developed specifically for a particular task that they then call a "standard" car like thier 0-100-0 cars ? It's quick though, would be good to see it go head to head with an XTR2/4 and a Dax Rush busa turbo Quote
Matt Seabrook Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 Good find Scot. It looked glued to the track Quote
Robandcolin Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 How much grip There was absolutly no drama. I think he needs to try harder. Rob Quote
robthehungrymonkey Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 Going round the hammerhead (?) it looked so much faster than anything i've seen go round there before. It's things like this that help the Caterham brand over westfeild's (going back to the very long thread a few weeks ago) Quote
Boomy Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 Nice clip. It's funny you should mention the grip etc, to quote myself from another post here: QUOTE I have to admit that at the kit car live event i went to, the caterhams looked so planted and totally unphased by many of the high speed corners. While other cars were showing varying degrees of body roll etc (not that this is a bad thing of course as it was still very minimal) the caterham looked almost the same as it did on the straight sections. Mark Stanton Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 They wouldn't allow you go on Ash write in and give em hell Quote
Gazza Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 it pains me a little to say so - but i agree that there's definitely something extra in the Caterham design that makes it a naturally better handling chassis. Ive seen it at sprints, and then watching the Formula Woman thing last week at Mallory - they were getting a way with murder and the Caterhams were very forgiving on the limit instead of spearing off backwards I think its all down to the long history of factory backed racing series, whereas Westfield rely on owners to arrive at their own handling solutions. Gazza Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 [getting back to the point] ... TG should host a viewers' sprint meeting. Any roadgoing/legal cars, any drivers .... Quote
Arm Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 I dont think its the design (I know its not) but it can be down to the final tuning and setup. Inherent chassis design for both cars is far from ideal. Dont confuse a developed caterham with a poorly prepared westy. Quote
a4drk Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 Remember this is for "standard" cars which can be bought. It would be interesting to see the Westfield 2000S going round there........... I reckon that's quicker than the Cateringvan...... David Quote
scruffythefirst Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 Well the dax rush turbo busa factory option with camber compensation is effectively duncan cowpers car straight out of the box, but without the cage. That'd be all over that like a rash.... .... they'll never show it though. Quote
