interior size Westfield

I am in Canada and considering a kit purchase but don't have a Westfield vehicle to view or sit in. I have sat in the Lotus Seven and new Caterham Roadsport SV which has larger dimensions than the classic seven. My question is where does the Westfield 1600 interior dimensions compared to the above fit closer.

The Roadsport SV becomes quite expensive and the Westfield, if not cramped inside like the classic, would become my first choice. I have bo problem fitting into somrthing like a Spitfire or MGB, but do find the MG Midget smaller than I would want.

Thanks for your help or comments.

Geoff,

IIRC, the new MX-5-based 1600 is a variant of the SEiW chassis, and so will have more room than the 'classic' seven.  I don't know whether it is bigger or smaller than the catering van Roadsport tho.

If you are considering a Westy build from new, make sure you have the dropped floorpan, as even for a shorthouse like me, the windscreen top and sidescreens are just in my eyeline on the 1800 Zetec SEiW that I finished last year (first birthday in just over three weeks).

Hello Geoff

I am 6ft 3ins and 17 stone and have just changed from a narrow SE to the new SPORT 1600 (ex WF demonstrator) shown which is 2ins wider and a perfect fit for me. My wife who is 5ft 4ins and 7.5 stones is also a good fit when the seat is forward. The lowered floor pan makes a real difference.

the westfield SE(and i) are for all intents and purposes the same as a long cockpit caterham (most caterhams for the last ten years or so).

The widebody westfield SE(i)W is 2" wider than the narrow/caterham.

the caterham SV is bigger again than a widebody westie.

ime most people will fit in a widebody westie.

all new westies are widebodies
