If it were me...

I would try a stanley blade or something similar in profile and just take my time, working along one side.

Sure someone will be along in a sec to lambast my methodology.  :oops:

Thanks for the response,

It's off now !!!! There are two recess's at the bell housing end and after drifting some wooden wedges through and leaving it for half an hour it must have stessed the seal enough to break it.

Just got to get it back on now  :arse:
