Building a new car

a mate wants to build a westy from scratch, using all new part etc.

This probably a lazy question, but has anyone done a spreadsheet with all the cost involved, so he has a rough idea of what it would cost him - and where to source the bits from

I think he is looking installing the duratec 2.0.

I know people don't buy everything direct from westfield and source bits cheaper else where.

Any help would be appreciated, someone has got to of done one

i did mine this way.using all new parts from westfield except for .engine carbs exhaust and diff.

totaling around 14 grand.

looking back it could have been done cheaper but didnt know much about westfield then.

buying all parts from them i knew they would fit.(some to a fashion)

mine has the vx engine which may be slightly more to make fit but im not sure.
