spence Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 Got emailed this. The Trading standards Office have brought the following scam to our attention: A card is posted through your door from a company called PDS (Parcel Delivery Service) suggesting that they were unable to deliver a parcel and that you need to contact them on 0906 6611911 (a premium rate number). DO NOT call this number, as this is a mail scam originating from Belize. If you call the number and you start to hear a recorded message you will already have been billed £15 for the phone call. If you do receive a card with these details, then please contact Royal Mail Fraud on 02072396655 or ICTIS (the premium rate service regulator) at http ://www.icstis.org.uk or your local trading standards office. This is a genuine scam. This service is under investigation by ICSTIS. Please be aware of this scam and forward this information to as many as possible. Quote
stu999 Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 Funnily enough, I had an answer phone message left by a company called PDS, and asking me to ring a number to speak to an operator to organize parcel delivery. As I was expecting a parcel I very nearly fell for it, except for the fact that the next message on the phone was the same bloke saying *exactly* the same thing again - a pre-recorded message... peterg Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 I love the term 'genuine scam'....is that an oxymoron or what? Did a quick bit of Googling ("PDS" and "scam") and it seems that this scam has been going on in various guises for at least six months.... Quote
Stevo Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 from the above link: the reference to £15 is an urban myth. It is not possible for a £15 charge to be made on connection Quote
