Gromit Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 Is it possible to take a transit van onto a track day? I`m going to ring some companies up to see if its possible, I was just wondering if any of you had any thoughts on it. Quote
Morbius Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 I seem to remember a tricked up one with a big V8 in the loading bay behind the driver actually went around a track pretty well a few years back. Quote
darthurs Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 I have seen vans actually racing against cars in a VW series at Oulton, so I cant see why you couldn't take one on a track day. Dan Quote
darthurs Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 Vans on Track. Just make sure you empty your tools out the back of it first. Clicky Dan Quote
BuGsBuNnY Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 I wouldnt like to be next to one on a trackday... Quote
stu999 Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 At the Aintree trackday earlier this year, there was a Mitsubishi L200 pickup having a thrash round in one of the sessions... Quote
Martin Keene Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 What I want to know is why isn't there a race series for vans. Something along the lines of Stock Hatch, but for vans. 1) No engine mods bar air filter and exhaust. 2) Standard brakes apart from pads. 3) Standard suspesion apart from springs and dampers. 3) Cage/Seat/Harness/Extinguisher obviouly... And some of that lot won't be available. I've never seen a lowering kit for a transit! It's would be a huge laugh... Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 Not quite vans, but there is pick up racing. Never seen any, but supposed to be good, IIRC they're all based round tuned 2.0XE engines. Quote
Buzz Billsberry Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 What I want to know is why the feck are you asking that question? I have a hi-cube LWB Tranny 2.5 diesel and I wouldn't waste me money tarting it up for track days. I even had thoughts of putting my old Rover V8 3.9efi engine out of the westy in it. Then I realised why? what for? I'll just tow everything at a 100mph so left the thought in the bin with all my other stupid ideas and stick to doing 75 mph with the diesel in it! Buzz Quote
Gromit Posted October 13, 2006 Author Posted October 13, 2006 QUOTE It's would be a huge laugh... That what i`m thinking. Quote
