custardtart Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 Does anyone know if the BARC Westy Champs are staying with BARC or moving to 750 MC? Quote
Mark Stanton Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 There's strong paddock rumours that it may enter the 750MC stable Quote
jbean Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 Not in any paddock i have been in.........I hope it stays with BARC...?? Quote
Keith Scarfe Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 Hmmm. I have not heard of moving to 750 either. Where did you hear that Mark? Jon Morton (the drivers association rep) is having a meeting just about right now with the BARC to discuss the championship and any future changes etc, particularly in regard to the recent yellow card seen in the press. As soon as any news is public, I will put some notes on our web site. Will post a note on here as well. Quote
Mark Stanton Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 QUOTE Hmmm. I have not heard of moving to 750 either. Where did you hear that Mark? Around a couple of meets last year when Westfield series was included on the 750MC billing .................. heard talk that 750MC was quite keen to undertake organising role and saw it as a positive to their program As a numptie question ................... would it mean much difference if BARC or 750MC club organised races both seem very capable .................... BARC have done Westfield from day one Any news on tyre option for 2007 Quote
custardtart Posted October 11, 2006 Author Posted October 11, 2006 Not wishing to start any wild rumours so remember this is just hearsay (as opposed to heresy ) but I had heard that it was considering running with the Catervans as part of the Roadsports series! Quote
jbean Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 Both 750mc or BARC would be able to organise the series. However it always has been a BARC series and considering the yellow card I think stability is the best option at the moment to try to attract more competitors so moving organising club would not really be a good idea. We just need more publicity as there is enjoyable and very close racing all down the grid, (usually commented on by the spectators as one of or the most exciting race) and a very friendly bunch of people. A bit more factory involvement would be nice too, it is a very good advert for the cars, so why not use it, ginetta and caterham do to great effect. Quote
Keith Scarfe Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 Meeting went well. Looks like the BARC are committed for the next 2 years. There is also some info on tyres. See Jon's notes here: www.wscrda.co.uk Quote
simon4007 Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 Yeah, lots of encouragement to take away from Jons meeting notes. I'm particularly excited by the prospect of seeing three Champions meet on the track next year, Nick Flowers, Quentin Laithwaite, and a certain Mr. Scarfe.... should be good!!!! Quote
Mark Stanton Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 That's good news ................. lets hope the championship gets loads of support and promotion to attract the full grids it deserves Quote
scott beeland Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 Any news on tyre option for 2007 Any news on the Tyre situation for SS? Is the Toyo price deal still going to be on offer? Quote
Mark Stanton Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 QUOTE Is the Toyo price deal still going to be on offer? What do you think Quote
scott beeland Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 Who knows? But then it doesn't really affect me Quote
Buzz Billsberry Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 No but alcohol normally does I'd read somewhere that the Westfield championship had bin yellow carded due to the lack of grid and would possibly been dropped from tthe MSA/BARC calender as a championship if this don'ty improve over the next season a long with a lot of other championships that were not attracting a decent sizes grid? Buzz Quote
Mark Stanton Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 Yep ................ lets hope it can receive some higher profile promotion and get the grids back to where it belongs ................. would be a tragedy to lose it to lack of numbers especially when there are so many owners interested in racing their Westfields Quote
