combatsapph Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 Hi, I need a pre-pump fuel filter with 12mm ends but the only ones I kind find are the expensive alloy £50 ones for fuel injection (I will be using one of these after the pump). I don't want to start getting messy with joiners and reducers. I'm looking for something like:- Quote
markboyce Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 Think Auto Made me one of the above with custom ends. around 30 quid with the vat if I remember correct Quote
peterg Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 Can I ask why you need a pre AND post pump filter? I don't think the pump is likely to cause much contamination so can you not just put the £50 jobbis before the pump? Quote
Chasmon Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 OEM installations use a course filter before the pump and a fine filter after the pump... Although there is a lot of discussion. Westfield fit as standard a post pump injection filter these are cheap replaceable units. The tanks on recent cars have a finger filter to remove debris that may damage the pump... Quote

So, seeing as I bought my tank about a month ago, it's likely to have a filter in it and hence no need for a pre-pump filter? I don't think the pump is likely to cause much contamination so can you not just put the £50 jobbis before the pump? I've had a fuel pump let go before now and it's not pretty - you should have seen the rubbish that I had to flush from the fuel lines (before the filter) after that happened. If there was no post pump filter, I might have been looking at a complete fuel rail, injector and regulator replacement. Local motor factors, less than a quid Nope, the're all 8mm ends. Quote
Chasmon Posted October 6, 2006 Posted October 6, 2006 You can always have a chat with W/F about this. I was advised by them that my setup is fine. Tank=>pump=>filter=>fuel rail=>regulator=>tank return HTH Quote
