oioi Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 im going to go for the sony bravia - £800 quid if you buy it at sound and vision - see here Quote
peterg Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 Ash, Which? magazine arrived over the weekend and this month has a review of recently released TVs, highest scoring 32" LCD under £1000 is a Sharp LC-32P70E @ £600 (2 Scart, 1 HDMI) and then Panasonic Viera TX-32LXD60 @ £900 (2 Scart, 2 HDMI) both have audio out and integrated digital tuners PS: their 32" Best Buy was a Sony Bravia KDL-V32A12U @ £1400 (3 Scart, 1HDMI plus audio out and IDTV) HTH Quote
Guest Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 Hi, Might not help but 'Stuff' magazine puts Toshiba's 32WLT66 in their top ten. The only one which was under a grand (about £870 but can get cheaper if hunt around). Also has freeview, 2 HDMI, digital tuner and the 2 scart's (I think). Slighty cheaper is the Samsung 32" in glossy black. Looks good but apparently top end sound quality isn't brilliant. Gaz Quote

Probably something to do with them pushing HD-DVD's.. but anyway before we get side tracked. Get your Tosh 32" screen here for less than £600 (inc. del) ideal if you have sky/cable and don't need an inbuilt tuner! *** just incase your comparing prices thats a 32WL66 not a 32WLT66, the T indicates the built in tuner. *** Quote

Gaz I got the Samsung 32" HDready jobby from Vomet with DVD-Recorder thrown in for £1199, but it's probably conme down in price since then. Picture quality brill and connectivity is OK (only one HDMI, so I had to connect the DVD-R by composite because the SkY HD only had HDMI or SCART). Can't comment on sound quality, as I have only one ear working and that is not much better than (pretty ropey) telephone quality. SWMBO says that it is quite loud when I turn it up so that I can hear it, though Quote
worldwidewebs Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 What do you want a TV for, Ash? Shouldn't you be getting the car ready for next year? Quote
Arm Posted October 2, 2006 Author Posted October 2, 2006 Cheers gents Do you think John Lewis will price match Richer Sounds ? Quote
Al Yupright Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 Cheers gents Do you think John Lewis will price match Richer Sounds ? Should do aslong as it is a price that is displayed on the shelf in the shop and not an internet only price. They knocked 400quid off the Panasonic 32inch we bought a year ago. Free 5 year warranty. Arm Posted October 2, 2006 Author Posted October 2, 2006 Great, will ring them tomorrow and try. Quote
oioi Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 the panasonic at richer sounds for 700quid looks a good buy. maybe get that instead of the sony? ash - let me know how you get on with a price match cheers Mike Quote
Gavin Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 Just brought a 37 inch lcd, it's a Phillips 37pf5521d with integrated freeview, in Comet and Currys they wanted £1199, Argos wanted £1399 and I got it from homecinematv.co.uk for an amazing £854, couldn't believe the saving. Best bet is to look on Kelkoo.co.uk first and they have reviews of all the different sets and the different suppliers and it includes the prices that they all charge, it just saved me a fortune.
