jak Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 Ok, just to add a bit of fun to the journey up to Thoresby, I thought we could go up to Southwell, via Ravenshead and Oxton, then to Newark and back along the (A616?) to Ollerton then up to Thoresby. The roads are decent A roads mostly. Should arrive @ Thoresby approx 11. See you all Sunday. John. Quote
Major Stare Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 Ok, just to add a bit of fun to the journey up to Thoresby, I thought we could go up to Southwell, via Ravenshead and Oxton, then to Newark and back along the (A616?) to Ollerton then up to Thoresby. Mansfield (mansfield road) to Ravenshead , fork left at The Hut pub, continue for a few miles to island and straight over towards Calverton. Left at x roads to Oxton, over island and take 2nd left to Southwell. Follow for a few miles. At island in Southwell turn right (next to minster) follow for a few miles to traffic lights and turn right to Newark via Kelham (or turn left and head back to Thosby). Used to travel it every day when i worked in Lincoln, the Calverton to Southwell stretch is excellent if roads are clear. Quote
itguy Posted September 22, 2006 Posted September 22, 2006 Dont think I'm going to make it this weekend Kitchen extension is really coming on now so I need to be at home making sure they knock the correct walls out I've also got to nip over to brum to get some more bits for my supercharger bolt-on job. Sorry chaps, and thanks Kerry for the offer of a seat Good luck to all the Derby/Notts competitors! Will Quote
KerryS Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 Boing So why didn't we go today, been fabulous weather. Firecasr for Sunday changed to wet Kerry Quote
Hammy Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 Beeb forecast is good fro Sunday - 99% certain going, fuelled up, if I'm not at Morrisons for 90am don't wait . Not going if it's wet ! Quote
Ian Podmore Posted September 23, 2006 Author Posted September 23, 2006 Kerry - That's something to think about for next year. Should we have 'set' days, or just aim for say a certain weekend with more flexibility? Perhaps all those interested in the scenic drives can discuss this at the Clock? As for the weather for Sunday, I've just watched the BBC broadband weather forecast and the rain is a lot further North than Thoresby, with not even 'light rain' forecast. Let's hope they've got it right. I will be at Morrisons for 9.00 regardless of course. See everyone that can make it in the morning. If you are coming and going to be late, please let me know on 07970 289 341. Quote

No, they didn't Still turned out nice and first part of the run went OK till we met up with jak jak's Poor old speedo must have had a fit on the way home with a bolt missing from the lobro. Grand day out tho', car's filthy now Kerry Quote
Ian Podmore Posted September 25, 2006 Author Posted September 25, 2006 Erm, it was a bit wet. Shame the weather wasn't up to scratch, it rained at home as well so they really did get it wrong. Thanks for the route Kerry, and why did I getting up early to wash the car on Sunday morning....... Johns' bolts put in a very quick run of 51.78 on their very first outing Quote
Hammy Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 Good day out thx for organising , my car is nearly dry now too ! Quote
