Paul M Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 Excellent Sunday, just sorry I couldn't make sat, latest Rabbit update is that we haven't been to the vets yet to pick it's box up so we don't know what the bill is yet. I thought the show was very poor, if it wasn't for the racing & meeting up with the usual suspects it would have been really bad. Spoke to a few manufactureres in the hall and they all thought the market was really depressed at the moment. They all jumped on me when I approached their stands, a level of desperation I've never seen before at a show. Quote
Garry Bunn - Derby & Notts Joint AO Posted September 17, 2006 Author Posted September 17, 2006 I thought the show was very poor, if it wasn't for the racing & meeting up with the usual suspects it would have been really bad. If you want to buy stuff go to the Autosport show, and by the way..the sun won't be shining, there won't be a race track and there won't be WSCC in attendance. This sort of comment really annoys me when so many people have put such an effort in............... Quote
Chris Elworthy Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 It is true that the main part of the exhibition lacked some of the key players (WSC in particular) although saying that Ultima put the effort in. The other thing to bear in mind is that the main exhibition hall was full, not much room for any additional exhibitors. I still managed to spend all my pocket money! When promoting the WSCC attendance at this show, Garry and all involved make it absolutely clear that first and foremost we have to make the best of the rare opportunities that we all have to get together en-masse outside the speed series. The other priority of course is to promote the club. I think both of these were well and truly achieved this weekend. (so long as the pictures of Saturday night don't get back to Uncle Tom) It has long been accepted that the Kit Car shows need the club attendance to make them what they are. I am not complaining, the more opportunities we all have to get together the better, if there is a good exhibition attached that is a bonus. I did overhear a couple of paying visitors complain that the Club areas were not signposted from the public entrance, that may be something we feedback to Sally so that we can help them keep this show going, and hopefully flourish. My summary, a great day and the WSCC professionalism and turn-out made me feel proud to be a member. SB Quote
Boney Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 Hiya, well this was my first show being a bit of a newbie, and all I can say is that I thought it was great to put some faces to the cars seen in avatars. Sun was out, had a good natter and the drive to and from donny was great. I will be along to the next one Boney Quote
Paul Hurdsfield - Joint Manchester AO Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 Fantastic set up on the Saturday, Well done Garry and the Derby & Notts team 13 of us travelled in convoy down from Sunny Manchester After 7 years of attending shows I only really go along for the social side, (I can only take so much of looking at shiny bits ) 'Our' Club stand as usual was by far the BIGGEST and best and its always great to meet fellow members Quote
lespaul Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 Really enjoyed the time I spent at the show on Saturday, thanks to Garry and the team Couldn't stop all day as it was my son's 7th birthday so had to get home for some cake Darren PS Who won the low key Concourse comp? Quote

This sort of comment really annoys me when so many people have put such an effort in............... Garry people have there own opinions and it’s a democracy... I agree with Paul in that is was a pretty poor show in respect of the halls etc but most of the kit car shows are... a part from Stoneleigh and yes you are right the shows do rely on the clubs participation. I for one didn't really go for the show but for the company and Sundays most excellent racing. People do appreciate the effort put in by the clubs and there members but sometime for get to mention it in there replies when they are posting or until someone reminds them in the thread! Donington's a great setting for a show, and it was a great idea to tie in the 750 racing as well as a track day to bring the crowds and while that format continues then it will be seen as a success plus when the kit car market picks up then perhaps more manufactures will appear and so will the trade stands. Just a thought Buzz Quote
