Westfield SE 1.8 BARC WSC

Raced it this year in the BARC Westfield championship. I have changed almost everything on the car apart from the front disks and chassis. Spent approximately £20k this year replacing worn out parts. £8K on the engine.

It has a Dunnell Engine that has only been raced in 4 events since it was rebuilt. New head, bottom end, Dunnel ECU.

I've never raced before and the car has won 3 events with me so far this year. The 2nd place at Pembrey (1st race) I threw away by spinning after leading for 8 laps. Won the next race. At Snetterton the 4th place would have been 3rd if I hadn't spun again. 1st at Cadwell was easy, had pole by 1.2seconds. I was leading at Brands by 6secs with 2 or 3 laps to go with a siezed left brake cylinder from the start, unfortunately it did not last. At Silverstone the battery came out of the mounting bracket on my 2nd lap in qualifing so I ended up at the back of the grid. I was in 3rd by the 8th lap 1.2 seconds behind the leader .2 behind 2nd place and had just set mine and the fastest lap of the race when a bolt came of the clutch pedal and I couldn't change gear. End of race because I tried to save money reusing a nylock bolt. Snettertton (3rd in 1st race, 1st in 2nd race) I was just not quick unfortunately (don't think I get on with the circuit) got better towards the end of the 2nd race of the double header.

Anyway what I'm trying to say is this car is fast, If you have never raced and would like to start with a winning car, or have raced but couldnot afford a winning car then you should seriously think about this one. I've still only got 6 signatures on my licence.

If you were to start the car from new it would possibly cost £15k and you might not end up with a car that is as quick.

The car is light, I've got 12Kilos of ballast in it, lightest wheels you can get, 2kilos each, Microdash dashboard with logger.

I'm going to finish the season so I'm not selling the car untill after Cadwell on the 30th September. If anyone is interested they can take it home afer the race so they know I haven't taken anything off it.

I'm selling it as my dad has bought 911 RS racing Porsche which I'm going to race next year..

This years results 2nd, 1st, 4th, 1st, 3rd, 1st

I'm racing a Mallory this weekend. My car is No.12 and is blue and sliver.

I'm looking for around £9K.

Presume this is a non road going vehicle?

Can you post more specifics relating to engine and components please?

Are there some photos?

Cheers

Hi The Great Fandango,

Car has a Dunnell 1.8 ford Zetec engine with everything that is legal for series added including a new exhaust that was £650+VAT. It is pretty much brandnew.

The car is Narrow bodied but there are advantages to this over the widebodies when it comes to racing. There stiffer for a start and mine is exactly 50:50 balance with in it and it creates less drag down the straight.

The car has a ford live axle, Quaife gearbox (10 races old) with 4.1 diff (almost new).

Can be road going but it would need the setup changing on the suspension as it would be too low at the moment. You would also want to put a sump guard on.

It has disk brakes all round and a bias control.

Microdash which logs speed, temp, oil pressure, lat and long G, revs, times, etc.

If you want to see the spec's for the car you could have a look at the regs on the BARC website. I think the engine produces about 165 - 170 hp.

Set of wets will come with the car.

I can confirm it's a fast car. However, I dispute the "At Snetterton the 4th place would have been 3rd if I hadn't spun again", you'd still have had to get past me. :D

I'm tempted, I'll have a look at Mallory.

Andy

Thomas, the last race is at Oulton not Cadwell.

I think he means is it registered for the road. i.e. SVA'ed in new speak or has road log book if it was registered before SVA was invented. Is this Stuart Linn's old car? Would you sell the engine on its own? How much... I dont think I could afford it, but worth asking.  ???

It did have an MOT before I bought it as Oli Crawford ran the old engine in up the M11 and round the M25. It would need some work before it would be road going again, I don't think the indicators work, the relay flew out in the middle of one of the races, everything else though is good.

Mobsy, That 3rd place was mine I tell you MINE!!!!   :arse:  :D

Keith, It would be dependent on the interest in the car, I've been told its a very good engine.

Lastest Info.

Pole at Mallory by .165, unfortunately the throttle cable broke whilst in the lead.
