Westies in America

Taking "The b***h" over to the states in a couple of weeks, just wondering if anyone who did the Coast to Coast run had any problems with the Temp import of them, or if anything needs doing to my V8 to comply with any temp import regs over there.

I don't think anything needs to be done as temp imports don't have to comply with US road regulations etc..

Just in case - what did you do, and what would you recommend?

There was no probs with anybody who did the Coast 2 Coast as that was in England. But I went on the  seven's 'how the west was driven' tour last year in my V8 all I did was change the advance slightly to cope with the crap petrol out there otherwise  I /we didn't have any issues

You are correct in your assumption. A temporary import does not have to comply with US regulations.

What's the duration of your trip? what states will you be visiting?

Some of the information gathered on the USA tour will be useful, some will not.

Happy to help where I can

just be careful, if they think your taking anything that's likely to blow up , you'll be in trouble

I'm in trouble then :) Mine seems to blow up every other week.

I'm having mine shipped to Galveston (Cue song) and then heading up to Austin Texas. Will be pootling around the south and Arizona/New mexico.

Which insurers did you use for the C2C trip? I've got one lined up to use (Maryland Insurance) that covers non residents - but I could do with other suggestions too.
