Nick PC Posted September 10, 2006 Posted September 10, 2006 Have got the engine to start and everything is OK except that it will not idle at all, only runs with throttle. Additionally the rev counter shows no reading although when the ignition is turned on the needle lifts off the bottom stop. Can anyone give me some pointers of where to start looking for the cure. Barnster Posted September 10, 2006 Posted September 10, 2006 Not sure what setup you have but I had similar problems with my Madness build last year. Engine idle problem was down to throttle position sensor needing resetting/recalibrating. The rev counter issue was solved by bridging a couple of the wires with a resistor. There was a post on this a week or two ago. Initially mine had no reading and then it decided to wave all over the place. BS Quote
JimNoble Posted September 10, 2006 Posted September 10, 2006 Engine idle problem was down to throttle position sensor needing resetting/recalibrating. The TPS on mine was on the wrong way around. At zero throttle the ecu thought it was on full throttle and went into "clear a flooded engine" mode (ie zero fuelling). Jim Quote
Nick PC Posted September 10, 2006 Author Posted September 10, 2006 Jim do you know the order the wires should be connected in mine are yellow at top white middle and brown bottom. Quote
JimNoble Posted September 10, 2006 Posted September 10, 2006 No idea. Hang on, I'll go take a picture... Jim Quote
JimNoble Posted September 10, 2006 Posted September 10, 2006 Here we go. Looking at the TPS the right way up: Hmm, not much help to be had from the wire colours! Jim Quote
