Gromit Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 what the devil. His solicitor should be taken outside and given a slap to bring him back to reality. As one on the comments said "This case would have qualified as a Monty Python sketch 35 years ago." Quote
Boomy Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 Mr Gascoyne added: "The question you will have to ask yourself is whether being blind makes this driving dangerous, bearing in mind that the driving wasn't dangerous." Erm, that's a joke right?. No really, it's a joke right?. Quote
Gromit Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 QUOTE whether being blind makes this driving dangerous Is this the same as stating that "being a solicitor makes you a tw@t" Quote
spence Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 I SEE no problem HEAR. Typical of the laws attitude these days. I'm not surprised in the least. I'm more surprised the guy wasn't given a house, a personal driver, mobil phone and never ending benefits for his disabilities which we have supposedly inflicted upon him etc etc etc. Prosecutor Peter Love asked Pc Austin if he had noticed anything about Aziz. Pc Austin replied: "I did - he didn't have any eyes, Your Worships." Quote
pistonbroke Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 You gotta larff at that , surely it's a pizz take Quote
neilb Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 QUOTE In his closing submissions, the lawyer told the court: "I don't propose to call my client to give evidence. The question is not whether his driving was dangerous, but whether being blind makes it dangerous. Suprised that his defence didn't try to say that he was not blind, but had no eyes, if he had eyes then he would be able to see goodness me Quote
Richgm Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 QUOTE Prosecutor Peter Love asked Pc Austin if he had noticed anything about Aziz. Pc Austin replied: "I did - he didn't have any eyes, Your Worships." That made me spit coffee all over the keyboard. Quote
Willow Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 The thing that really made me laugh was that as he was blind, he was receiving verbal instructions from his mate. The next thing we learn in the story - oh yes, he's partially deaf too! "Brake" "Pardon?" "goodness me - BRAKE!" Quote
pistonbroke2 Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 Ive been driving blind for years. (Should have listened to mother) Nice shades though Quote
