reaper Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 Tempted to buy a nice tv from barry aschroft but its a bit too far for me to travel as it would be a 600 mile trip. I'd have to hire a van which is hard as i've got too many points for most companies to let me drive. So i was thinking about getting a courier or something to pick it up in the south east and deliver to me in the north east. Anybody have any ideas of who to use and prices. from the pic it looks very big and quite heavy. Quote
JeffC Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 I have an account with a courrier but think would work out expensive due to the size. was quoted a fortune for a bmw plastic bumper , was very light but when boxed was bulky, they charged by the volume it takes in the van ? If you can wrap it safley think would be cheaper to get on a pallet and collected, Richie next door (red vx westy) works for a company that could maybe sort it ? think from memory a pallet size collection is around £70 ish ? Blatman Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 If it can be packed in it's original packaging, then you can ship it and insure it no problem. If it isn't packed in it's original packaging, then it goes at your risk. How much does it weigh and what's it worth? I may be able to arrange something Quote
spence Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 All i can say is DON'T use CITY LINK !!!!!! We call them SH**Y LINK. Every single time a supplier has sent us goods via these idiots we have had nothing but trouble and i mean EVERY SINGLE TIME!!!!! i.e goods not turning up 3 times, Goods being delivered to wrong address twice, goods broken in transit once.etc etc etc...... Last week some URGENT CCTV equipment due by 10.00am the next day managed to turn up at the wrong address 200miles away and arrived a week late. . Told them to take it back as i went and collected replacement goods from supplier myself. All as bad as each other But these idiots are the worst!!!!!!!!!!!! Cost me 2 days down time They told nothing but lies and then offered double the postage cost as compensation .....£14. THANKS A LOT "SH**Y LINK" Quote

a4drk Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 I agree with Jeff. Get the thing well wrapped with polystyrene & pallet strap it to a pallet. Should cost approx £70 to £80 for a 1 off pallet. Even if its a 2 - 3 day delivery - might be cheaper. But then agian - make sure that it is mark up as a TV, then hopefully they be more careful. These situations always remind me of the begining of Ace Ventura Pet Detective when he is delivering the box of glass...... Quote

Blatman Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 QUOTE Should cost approx £70 to £80 for a 1 off pallet. Palletising it will only complicate matters, and it doubles the cost. Unless this telly is stupidly big (I haven't looked yet...) then original packaging along with generous use of brown parcel tape will be just fine. I ship *lots* of TV's in the course of a working week... Quote
Barry Ashcroft Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 Here it is I don't have the original packaging it's 4 years old box was binned It seperates from the lower video cabinet It measures 55"high 38"wide 18"deep weight unknown Quote
Blatman Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 Without the original packaging, I wouldn't touch it. Quote
