ChrisF Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 Top day This was the best track day I've attended, as you would expect from the RAF.....perfect organisation Quote
samcooke Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 Plus a [relatively] good surface, good driving standards, nice weather after the first session, a big hangar to park in between sessions, cheap food, a circuit apparently planned by Gavin Kershaw of Lotus handling fame and I only nearly died once. Must get stickier tyres / more talent. Quote
dabar Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 Yes,despite my.... errr slight oil problem i had a great day. Nice track, good food, very well organised and some good company...........and loads of westys giving it big licks Outstanding vfm. Roll on Honington Quote
SteveRST Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 Yes, an excellent day!! I was there in the maroon westy with bonnet stripe. It was my first airfield day in the Westfield and it really was loads of fun! Organisation was spot on, track layout & surface really good, weather good generally and my car held together well and didn't need anything fixing. Did notice a few things about my car, which have only become aparent after a day like yesterday. Definate brake fade after a few laps! A few nervous moments under braking, but I think the pads on at the moment may be cheap motor-factor jobbies. Also the pinto breather is not working properly, oil filler cap must have been leaking a bit of oil onto the exhaust manifold as I was getting oil smoke in the cockpit from time to time. Sam - I think I was about 3 cars behind when you had your 'near death' experience LOL! Was it a spin just after the first chicane? I had quite a few spins myself, all good fun though! Found you could really get the back to slide round when changing down into second for the tyre chicanes... a little too much some times though! Definately doing another track day sometime later this year. Cheers, steve Quote
F 20 Powered Rush Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 Just like to add my two penny worth, Fantastic day with a large amount of cash raised for local charities, Going by the way people were allmost queing up to shake the hand of J L Hughes everbody went away with the same feeling of success. My little green car (Stuart Taylor )performed well as usual. Did anybody else zero their odometer i made it 131 miles, probably 31 miles off wheelspin, Very nice to meet a few guys who frequent this site. Quote
samcooke Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 QUOTE Sam - I think I was about 3 cars behind when you had your 'near death' experience LOL! Was it a spin just after the first chicane? Slightly ambitious move to overtake a westy and a lame-arsed tin top that had been blocking us both (and the queue behind) for a lap, sadly the Westy decided to go past too and I ran out of runway. The Great Fandango Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 Sam, Are you the guy who... (1) came up to me and complimented me on "spitting flames" and (2) spun off exiting the tyre section? Have footage (all be it distant and over in a flash) of your experience... RAF Coltishall Trackday - 1st September 2006 You also get to see my spin which was uneventful really. I must have gone over some oil (God knows there were several cars laying it down that day) as I was struggling for grip over the following lap and consequently pitted. If ANYONE would like a DVD of this session (in full unadulterated quality) then send me a stamped addressed jiffy and I'll burn you a DVD. Mail me at Kyle.Harrison@BTConnect.Com and I'll give you postal address. Great day had by all! Some mega speed and some great corners with enough run off to really push it! Only downside for the day?... Stone chip tastic! Quote
