I agree with Gadgetman, had a five-piece tonneau made for me that includes half doors. Zips along top of doors and in the middle and along the back so I can use just the back bit on warm days to cover the bootbox. :t-up:

Now I can drive in torrential rain without getting wet.

Re: aquaplaning, 13" tires won't really help. it's the design of tires that makes a difference but when the car is light and tires wide, there's not much one can do unfortunately. Take care and drive slowly...

Nikwax (and Fabsil) only work because the materials that you apply them too are slightly porous. Vinyl isn't porous, and the stitching (which is what will be wet for about a year...) is too porous to retain the waterproofing solutions that may be applied to them.

Besides, Nikwax doesn't make leather (or anything else) waterproof, just ever so slightly damp proof. Nothing I've ever applied Nikwax to has ever become anything more than slightly showerproof, and I've been using Nikwax (solid and liquid) for 20+ years...

ok so much for that *brilliant* idea! :durr:

I need a face mask, RainX, FogX, double glazing for my visor, 3 piece toneau, half doors, mud flaps, holes in the floor, holes in the seats & some brave/skill pills for the aquaplaning!

Thanks,

Paul.

Depending on your helmet you can get replacement visors which have the special anti-fog layer built into them, then you don't need the face mask, fog x and double glazing, just the visor. My Bell helmet has these type of visors on it and I've never experienced fogging up in rainy conditions or cold conditions.

Another vote for Fog City. I've used them in bike helments for about 12 years and they just don't fog up - simple as that. There's a do-it-yourself version and also replacement double glazed visors. They've recently brought out a photochromic version which I'm planning to get when I next replace my helmet - a little Finbarr Saunders moment there :)

why not get some seat covers like they use in 4x4s and vans, bin bags or tape visqeen to the seats to protect them .after mine was left out by the garage the seats took ages to dry and it affects the glue holding the seat pads.fogger will help with the helmet

One of those rather simple ideas that you wish you'd thought of  :durr:  :bangshead:  :bangshead:  :bangshead:

Bit cheaper than new seats, one for my shopping list too I think.

the only problem i had with a fog city was "streakiness" at night time.  dont know what the correct term is but when light is refracted you get lots of purty colours which make everything appear streaky, found it quite hard to use at night so removed and used washing up liquid instead which works a treat.  use rainX on the outside of the helmet.

have to say ive done *lots* of wet miles and the best thing is solid seats, no carpets, half doors and a toneau and a bike all in one suit (trousers and jacket will let water in at some point in the join).

might be worth trying saddle wax to seal the seats.  dont know if it will but my old tonneau was a split job with a zip down the middle and the zip used to leak.  saddle wax sealed it. of course you may just end up with a wet and waxed A***?  but is that a bad thing ??? the new tonneau is a single piece and i just fold the drivers half under the passenger side.
