I used to work with Andy Green (the driver). He tells some good stories, but it is amazing just how much of his own time and money he had to put up for Thrust SSC (not sure about this one, it seems better financed).

My brother was part of the design team and judging by what they were paying him there is no shortage of cash.

I went around silverstone today in a Vauxhall astra 1.9 Diesel, I was driven by an expert. It was quiet and very fast, handled very well, it has 200 BHP!

The brochures said it does 45 mpg. Round the track it managed 15mpg!, so no more econimical than petrol round the track I guess.

That's a good clip, they were talking about "the bigger engines" for the record attempt !       Hope they manage it.
