Hi all,

Finally got to the stage of fitting the body work to my car. I've got the dimension of the bootbox right and bolted the roll bar (RAC) down through the tabs.

Next up is the rear underside. Very difficult tot clamp it up in the right place as the bend doesn't seem natural and my G clamps keep falling out (i'm on my tod as usual as well). I was told by westfield that I should get hub equidistant from the inside edge of the wheel arch fore and aft.

I'm realy struggling to get this dimension correct though. Any advice or tip really apreciated!

Cheers

I think most people actually space out the bodywork from the chassis at the rear.  I used a 25mm alloy square section to do this…. It makes the fitting a lot easier and looks better in my opinion.  I riveted the alloy to the chassis then moved the body into place and riveted it to the alloy.

Hi again all, thanks for the replies

Once concern I have is that if I space the body work off the spare wheel will be in a different place relative to the body work...

Cheers

I fitted bodywork as per book and to be honest it doesn't look as nice as i would have liked. The distance around the wheel is not equal (front to back). As Big R says, I wish i'd put some extra box sections spacers under rear of chassis to lower the back end down a bit more.

I was on my own and could not clamp it, so I cut some pieces of dowl and wedged the body up into place and did all my measurements and checks before rivetting in place.

If you look at picture below you will see the problem. I think a 25mm section spacer would have probably done the job.

Thanks for replies. I've rivetted a 15mm section which seems to be the best compromise. 25mm almost pulled it down.

Its a right pain in the  :arse:  to clamp though!
