Phssthpok Posted August 13, 2006 Posted August 13, 2006 .......when I was a young guttersnipe scaring old ladies and envious Dutton owners with my mighty Puch VS50, I used to tune into The Old Grey Whistle Test on my crystal television set and listen to the mellifluous tones of whispering bearded Bob Harris who, incidentally, I recently saw, sans beard, in the Oxford branch of Toys R Us. Every year, on the OGWT, bumptious Bob would have a vote of the viewers favourite musical film (pre-video don't forget) clips, and every year this song would win. But as video recorders were still a gleam in Mr Beta and Mrs Max's rheumy old eyes I never had the chance to record the glistening clip for prosperity. Then, a millennia later, came the porn filled Internet and I embarked upon a search for my seminal song which, IMO, featured probably the greatest guitar duet ever witnessed by (wo)man kind outside a freebie Shadows concert. For years I Googled, Asked Jeeved, Altavistaed and pleaded in prurient News Groups, without some much of a sniff of my song. Then, by happenstance, whilst deep in my crapulent cups, I mistyped Rubber+KY+Sheep+Catterham into our favourite search engine. Suddenly, my ears were filled with aural ambrosia as I was transported back to my youth while the opening chords of a long lost song germinated my parietal lobes. So, ladies, gentlemen and Robin Hood owners, without further I bring you...... .....click here if you have broadband Quote
Bill.Ashworth Posted August 13, 2006 Posted August 13, 2006 This is available on a DVD called "Freebird - The Movie", which (amongst other things) contains most of the footage from the concert at Knebworth in 1976 supporting 10cc and the Stones. Oddly, the Knebworth version of Freebird, which was the one played by OGWT, wasn't used. There's a compilation DVD called "Green Lights, Blue Skies" available that contains the Knebworth version.
