Called in yesterday for an hour or so but SWMBO/tin top for me as well.  Quite a reasonable turnout but I could not find where the NE crew were hiding.

Thought Westfiled stand was poor, especially in comparison to neighbours.  Both cars looked a bit 'tired'.

It was my first visit to the Harrogate show and assume most now go for the social side.  The golf club house opposite the entrance does vey good food and drink!

Cheers :)

hey john sorry we missed you - didnt see you there! we will of been probabaly around the very small show buildings or round the back of Si and Stu's campers.. the wind was appalling for those in tents the weekend.. saturday night was a night for the hardy.. tent nearly got blown away a few times but we soldiered on in Si's new gazebo which was a god send! quite cosy once the door went down.. over all a poor turn out by owners probably due to the bl**** aweful weather reports, wind, rain, people on holiday and other people on the boardroom dissing the show from last year putting people off before they even went.. It could be better by a mile which is a shame really.. I still think the show should open its doors to all car types and become a car show with a kit car section.. it would be full.. same with a lot of shows now.. except stoneleigh.. always full..

Many thanks go to Emma and Mark L for one of the best prezzies you could of asked for unexpectedly - after a night drinking and being cold a lovely bacon butty thrust in front of me and someone saying 'anyone want this bacon sarnie?'  ???   :p    :D

The tired blue westfield as you put it was the new mx5 based sdv.

Oh by the way, Westfield stand poor, couple of iffy customer cars for sale... and the only company... as far as I could see... to charge a pound for a catalogue.

I sincerely hope you're not referring to the Westfield stand itself when you say this?

There was nothing "IFFY" about anything on the Westfield stand! For feck's sake - space is limited, the stand looked professional, and it was FULL with visiters more than most other stands! The only real let down was that we didn't get to see the new shape body. Stop b***hing and send Richard Smith an e-mail if you're unsure as to why this was the case!

I also admit that the dark blue's not the most interesting colour but the blue car was indeed the new Mazda MX-5 based vehicle. This car was not for sale.

The crimson Westfield (for sale) was MY car and far from "IFFY" as you put it! Feck off if you want to start putting other people's cars down!

No wonder the residuals thread was on here a while back!

The only thing iffy about the whole weekend was (1) the weather, (2) the lack of showday entertainment (a nunney with a piano and some deserted dodgems), and (3) the ******g poor turn out of the WSCC!

When I was first looking at building a kit car I distinctly remember paying £1.00 for three different brochures/pricelists - it ensures they get to the right people and not chucked in the bin before leaving.

As far as I could see Richard Smith was doing a STIRLING job, he took several orders, and generally sold lots of items including DVDs, tax disc holders, carbon erffect cycle wings and Westfield gear knobs.

How dare you be so bl**** negative. Why not pop your Westfield cap/jacket/polo-shirt on (if you have one!?!) and get yourself on the stand for a while.

Better still, perhaps the WSCC should FIGHT for a better spot, set up a marquee, promote a really friendly atmosphere and invite potential owners in the a chin-wag!?!?

What a hipocrit (Wish i could spell) Dont be negative yet slags things off

Defend your Zetec sure but dont slag off the few who made the effort

So now You Feck off - I made a number of calls to our regulars and the show orgsnisers to arrange the pitch. we agreed this was the best if we decided to get noisy, I also arranged for the campers and a couple more support vehicles to be allowed, and due to the weather we needed em.

No one could be arsed to bring the flags so our site looked sh!te IMHO

The Robin Hoods were out in force, and last year it hissed down so it wasnt the weather

Slagging the show off on here was the main culprit, to those that "Voted with their feet" all that was achieved was looking pants WELL DONE FOR WHAT YOU ACHIEVED - did you enjoy it?

how about you trying to FIGHT for a better stand? what have you done to organise anything at a show? na - thought not - by the way the foto you put up is not a true reflection of the amount of cars that did actually turn out.. a lot of people DID make the effort to go to the show just you did not see them. weather not being kind most people came - and went to probably escape the worst of the impending rain on its way - which did arrive big time.. the foto you put up here was sunday afternoon AFTER we left - the people who made the effort to stay for 3 days in the rain, wind and cold in a tent.. the people who waited with food and hot cups of coffee for club members turning up, drinks and entertainment.. try putting your actions ahead of your words mate perhaps the shows would be better then..  ???

Whatever reasons you have for being negative about the show are for each individual to have.................... however what should not be made light or made negative of is all the work and effort put in by those that organised matters ................. without the likes of Mark L, Stu and Em, Si and "Monica" + many others there wouldn't be anything ...............................

As I noted previously, please don't think its quantity that makes it ..................... it's quality and if those that attended enjoyed their time despite whatever the weather was doing .................. that's what counts  ;)  :D  ;)

We sure are a fickle lot ..................... you can guarantee that if the sun had been shining and temperatures in the 80's .................. then turn-out would possibly have been much higher all round and everyone would have a more positive attitude  ;)  :D of how everyone can make things better for the future................. it is very easy to stand back and criticise without being constructive .......................... it doesn't do anyone any favours

Me; Mike Dixon and John Foster made the journey up on Sunday. A bit later than planned due to the monsoon on the m60/m62 at our proposed start time. We saw Mark Leybourne and Tex heading home as we arrived.

I got the bits that were on my shopping list and had a good chat with Richard about the development (and supercharger possibilities) of the MX5 sdv; amongst other things.

Have to say Richard was indeed putting in a sterling effort and made us as welcome as always....And you HAVE to admit that the MX5 route is ONE HELL of a bargain. bl**** light too

The weather wasn't the best...But it's only weather :D

Nice blat home too :t-up:

I still stand by 99% percent of what I said but rest assured I always appreciate the hard work and effort of those people in the WSCC.

How could you possibly take my comments to mean those who attended? I'm of course referring to those who DID NOT.

The photo, although taken on Sunday afternoon, was pretty much a reflection of the whole weekend give or take another 7 cars - that's poor in anyone's books.

My main argument is with "Greenmeanie" and his comments directed at the Westfeild stand, the great work of Richard Smith and my apparent "IFFY" car.

How dare he!

Tex - dare i ask what the 'rabbit scarer' toggle on your dashboard is for?

Re the photo: when i arrived midday saturday that row of cars was full (so about 10, i assume) and there was atleast another row's worth behind.  I'm guessing i was probably there at the busiest time but there were a couple more westies dotted around some of the parking bays - not sure why they wernt with the rest of us?

If i still own it I'll definitely be up again next year.  Not that it's too far out the way for me!  There were a lot of robin hoods there but personally i think the quality of some of them wasn't as great as the westfields.  That's a personal preference though and obviously theyre a different car.

Anyone know why they've all got CB radios hooked up?

Regards Westfield not having new body style car at the show, I've been to the factory quite a few times recently and normally the new styled car hasn't even been there due to them having only the one (I think). On asking where it is, the guys said it's normally out at the track day events, could this be the reason it wasn't at Harrogate. I've been fortunate last time I visited the factory it was there so I managed to have a look round, quite a few nicely styled pieces on there.

thats for the exocet missile... a lot of westies go with local car clubs and friends - same as myself - Dax owner on the westy stand.. the robin hoods have used cb's for years as they blat.. chattin while they talk.. think its the fuckawe tribe that uses them..

I would advise against describing the Westfield stand as having 'a couple of iffy customer car for sale'. The owners are likely to take offense!

Yes, and *very* tempting... I've even heard a rumour the Westfield will sell you all the donor parts on a pallet for £800...

It's a deal, It's a steal, It's sale of the ####ing century...

:D

I'm very tempted to cost out a new build of the MX5 over the winter.
