John Loudon - Sponsorship Liaison Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 Oi you. Leave our mate MHC alone Quote
Lurksalot Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 OK I've done some searching but.... where can I find the class listings for the car specs and what are the the advantages that a 'novice' gets many thanks kev Quote
adhawkins Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 The class listing are part of the regs, that seem to have been taken down after this year's registration closed. Post details of your car (engine, windscreen or not and what tyres you plan you use) and someone will tell you what class(es) you can compete in. Presently, if you run in a roadgoing class (i.e. with a full screen and list 1A tyres) then there is a seperate class for novices in the two engine groups (below 1.8 and above 1.8). BECs, cars without windscreens and cars on slick tyres run in classes E to H, and these classes have their own novice award. Andy Quote
Lurksalot Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 Andy I'm not in a position to compete at the moment but it would help to understand by seeing the classes , tyre lists , regs etc is it not possible to sign up to enter meetings at any stage during the season ? Quote
adhawkins Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 Most events will require you to be registered with a championship to enter. It's relatively inexpensive (about £25) to register for the Speed Series at the start of the year. You will then receive regs for all the events, and you can enter the ones you want to. Some events fill up quickly though, so you need to get your entry off as soon as the regs arrive. Andy Quote
Richard M Green Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 Sorry Andy, you've either not read your blue book or misundersood what you have read: All that most regs require is that you are a member of an invited club. Therefore, any member of the Westfield Sports Car Club is entitled to enter any event that invites members of the WSCC (or members of affilated clubs) to enter. Whether one is registered for the Speed Series is generally a matter of indifference to the event organisers - some allocate a number of places for registered championship competitors, but if one returns one's entry sufficiently early then one is likely to pick up an 'unallocated' place. As examples: A couple of years ago Martin H wanted to dual drive my car at the RSSOC event at Curborough. By the time he'd got his licence he was too late to register for the Speed Series, yet he was a member of WSCC, so entitled to enter. Similarly I've entered Longleat in four weeks time - I am registered for none of the championships of which Longleat is a round. My entitlement to enter is simply that I am a member of the Borough 19 Motor Club which itself is a member of the Association of Central Southern Motor Clubs (ACSMC). The same principle would apply if I wanted to enter a round which invites members of the ASWMC of which the WSCC is a member.... Please do not put people off entering events by misinformation, just because they are not a registered Speed Series competitor! Quote
davidgh Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 By the time he'd got his licence he was too late to register for the Speed Series, yet he was a member of WSCC, so entitled to enter. Andy Same happened to Guy & me in 2004. Got our car on the road too late to enter the SS (even though we tried). Didn't stop us getting 5 or 6 entries that year though -- including the WSCC meeting at Curborough! David Quote
Lurksalot Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 Thanks Richard & David Thats kind of what I thought When I raced in the MSA superkart long circuit champs you didn't need to register with the championship, as long as you were an affiliated club member an entry to a race entitled you to participate and points scored counted to the championship I accept this may be different now ,but why close entries to a series, why not leave it open all season QUOTE A couple of years ago Martin H wanted to dual drive my car at the RSSOC event at Curborough Is it possible to share a car at this sort of event ? Is it possible to find the class structures without a blue book ? Too many questions really I probably should have started another thread Quote
Mark Stanton Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 Have you downloaded a "Beginners Guide" it should hopefully provide you with some initial answers and development for more Q's Events are open all season, however very soon fill up, with preference often given for invited championship contenders firstly Class structures will be noted in specific event regulations. Have a read of Beginners Guide and start a new thread Quote
peterg Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 You can 'double drive' at any event provided both drivers send in entries I'm sure if you ask nicely, someone might be able to send you a copy of the class structure - sadly I haven't got a copy to send you as I had a bot of a clearout a couple of weeks ago Quote
davidgh Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 Is it possible to share a car at this sort of event ? Lurks Yes, two (but normally not more) drivers may share a car. If you look at the Speed Series results chart, you will see that it's quite common -- frequently brothers (Kevin & Paul Jones, Andy & Mark Squire) and father+son (Colin & Robert Way, Guy & I). HTH David Quote
Lurksalot Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 Many thanks gents All I need now is a copy of the class structure Mark , I have read the beginers guide already these are a couple of questions not covered QUOTE Class structures will be noted in specific event regulations. I assume the class structure is the same at all events throughout the season and specific novice regs are too ? If anyone is able to furnish me with a class structure and novice regs I would be most grateful many thanks again Lurks Quote
Mark Stanton Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 I assume the class structure is the same at all events throughout the season and specific novice regs are too ? No, each event may vary. If you let me have your e-mail I can send info for SS 2006 .................... however this is specific for the Westfield SS ................ each championship differs to suit cars catered for and some championships and events even have class structures to suit tyre widths and profiles welcome to the minefield Quote
