As far as I can remember the reason that the 1700 class split was raised to 1800 was because any newbies with 1800 zetecs (and there are alot of these westfields on the road) are just going to get murdered in the 2000 class whereas in the smaller class they stand a chance.

The rules Debate is starting a bit early this year  :D

I think and amalgamation of A&C and B&D is a great idea - at least the all the classes in the championship will be on even keel - i.e none having seperate novice/expert classes - With prizes for best novice at the year end - and if a Novice does win the championship, then they were obivously talanted, and its deserved. - but being combined it would be much harder for a novice to do so, as shown by Davids Stats.  This combined class also makes it harder for a novice to become an expert under the present rules - which potentially solves that issue too. - although i still feel that novice to expert status should happen with 'experience' and not a lucky (or not so lucky) win.

I like that, especially if you combine it with the % difference from 2nd place.

i.e. 10 points for 2nd in class or 1st if only 1 in class, then others as a % of 2nds time.

i.e. if

1st  = 58.0sec = 10.26 points (102.6 %)

2nd = 59.5sec = 10.00 points

3rd = 60.5sec = 9.84 points (98.4%)

That rule would quickly be voted out if someone put a hi spec 1800 K in class A or C.

Now where did I put that old R500 motor.

I hope you are all submitting these ideas to your CR's. If not it won't be considered.

I still think novices should be promoted as per the blue book.....winning a MSA class. There can be no argument then, and additionally the promotee can be proud to attain that status.

Hey I'm all up for an upto 1.6 class and stuff the others

how about you John?

Yep - no problem. Its a 1600 anyway but I didnt want to embarrass anyone  :D

A return to the MSA regs, now that would be a very good idea .

Get rid of the areoscreen and 1b tyre classes.

That would stop the dilution of numbers in the other road going classes.

Cars would then  run in the correct classes on the day at the various events, regards.

Yes lets leave areo screen and 1B tyres alone. Currently best supported class :D

Just a reminder I said up to 1700, its the MSA class break it allows for rebored crossflows etc.

1800's were for Zetecs but how many are competing now? ???

Yes I kniow Mark. Sounds like a good idea to me. Messers Smallridge were just trying to be humourous.

MHC's notes were also good even if contraversial. Lets face it - the BEC cars were only ever destined for track day use when launched and not really aimed at fitting in with MSA hill and sprint class structures.

Yes John, but that is what makes us unique. It just so happens that this is a very popular class, and as such deserves representation. it's bad enough that they have to get lumped in with the slick cars on the day without ostracising them further within the SS.
