Greenstreak-Andy D Posted August 8, 2006 Posted August 8, 2006 A mate phoned last night and suggested going to Loton Park this w'end. Midland Hill Climb championship and Porsche championship...will there be any Westies going? Not been to this Hill climb before but have heard its a good climb, where is it best to spectate? If there's anyone going could meet up, i will be there on the Sunday Andy PS Here's the link Loton Park Calender Quote
peterg Posted August 8, 2006 Posted August 8, 2006 I'll be there not exactly a Westie though (I'm No 92 and will be on the right just inside the entrance gate in the paddock if you want to drop in) Loton Park is in a lovely setting, you can spectate at Triangle where you can just about see the cars leave the line then hear them whistle round the first couple of bends appearing at a rate of knots towards and out of Triangle and up through the Esses. If you get bored with that you can walk up the hill to see peeps trying desperately to brake over the crest and then again for the tight right just before the finish line. Just checked the Finals and there are 9 Westies (only Ash Mason posts on this forum) plus 6 C*terhams, a load of Porkers and lots of single seaters Quote
Greenstreak-Andy D Posted August 8, 2006 Author Posted August 8, 2006 Sounds good to me, will be good to see how quick a nicely setup Westie compares! Will look in on your single seater Pete Is the car park reasonably safe to leave a Westie? Andy Quote
Mark Stanton Posted August 8, 2006 Posted August 8, 2006 Sure is worth taking a look ..................... Loton is a top venue for spectating and driving Parking is within grounds and often other Westfields are parked up there .................. Calling Perksy and Stu999 Quote
John Loudon - Sponsorship Liaison Posted August 8, 2006 Posted August 8, 2006 I think our friend ARM will be competing in his Westfield. Its worth going if you can just to watch the master at work John Quote
jos Posted August 8, 2006 Posted August 8, 2006 I didnt realise there was an event on this weeken so thank you for telling me. I'll probably be there but definately wont be in a westfield, i'll either be in my MAC#1 or my tintop, so hopefully i'll see some of you there. Good luck to anyone taking part Quote
scott beeland Posted August 8, 2006 Posted August 8, 2006 Might be there myself as a spectator. Quote
stu999 Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 Sure is worth taking a look ..................... Loton is a top venue for spectating and driving Parking is within grounds and often other Westfields are parked up there .................. Calling Parksy and Stu999 I'm sure I will be there, exchanging wages for junk food at the burger van There will be literally all sorts of machinery, both in the paddock, and in the spectator area. Your Westfield will be as safe there as it is anywhere - Loton Park thankfully seems to attract more enthusiasts than it does scrotes and lowlife Quote
Greenstreak-Andy D Posted August 9, 2006 Author Posted August 9, 2006 Thanks Stu, hope to see you there..... Andy Quote
perksy Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 ............. Calling Parksy and Stu999 Who's Parksy Worth going Andy, you get to have a wander around the paddock area and have a good look at the cars and a chat with some of the drivers Burgers ain't bad either Just make sure you don't miss the turning into the park Quote
Arm Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 All being well we will be competing there this weekend, I cant remember my number to tell you however I'm sure a silver Westy will not be difficult for you to find. Please come and introduce yourselves. Quote
Mark Stanton Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 I've missed the turning as well Mark Have a walk up the hill alongside the track ............. Museum corner can be a good spot Quote
Krish Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 I've been advised to go, so will be turning up........hopefully in my Westie, weather permitting. Quote
Krish Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 just checked the weather, its looking very wet this weekend. Will both days be the same? Which is the better day to go on? Start/finish times etc. Quote
peterg Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 BBC weather for Shrewsbury looks OK to me, 21c sunny intervals Saturday is practice, Sunday is timed - both days due to start around 9:30 and they normally finish about 4pm(ish) depending on weather, number of interruptions etc Quote
