conibear Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 Looking at some new property near me that has been built as domestic accomodation. The land it is on was commercial before and the new owner has knocked the commercial unit down and built three domestic houses. They have been empty since the build thus never habited. Now I am looking to purchase a commercial property for my business, which is rather difficult in my area. I wondered whether it would be easy to convert the habitable rights back from domestic to commercial. FWIW, the property lies about 30 feet back off our village high street. Anyone got an idea? Cheers Ian Quote

Martin Keene Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 Seconded, could be a bit of a knightmare red tape job... Quote
Bryan C Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 Just a personal comment but Councils are under a lot of pressure to provide housing and might be reluctant to support a change back to commercial use. BC Quote
conibear Posted August 7, 2006 Author Posted August 7, 2006 Mark, I may contact you in very near future But what department would I need to speak to at local council? Also, this property is one of three small townhouses. One appears to be sold as a buy to let, would this have a bearing on the council's decision do you think? Ian Quote
