oioi Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 Neither are much good in freshly ploughed fields though (ask Oi Oi). i say nothing... Quote
Terry Everall Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 Both nana and richard carroll started this year on Kuhmos soft compound but soon realised that ACB 10's were more grippy so changed !!!!!!!!!!!!! Quote
RS WST Posted August 7, 2006 Author Posted August 7, 2006 Update on the tyres I had the Kuhmo's fitted on Fri and since then have covered over 300 miles with them. I am very impressed with them and they far outperform the Avon ACB 10's I had on before IMHO. The pro's and cons of radial's over crossply Kuhmo (softs) benefits over the Avon ACB 10's (hard compound) Alot smoother over bumpy roads, Greater footprint, tread pattern larger in kuhmo 235 x 13 than the avon 245 x 13 Alot quieter Better turn in Lighter steering No tramlining Just to mention the Avons I did use were hard compound so its not a like for like test as the new kuhmo's I have are soft compound Off the line the Kuhmo's perform better too. Best 60ft times Avon 1.9 sec on a warm tyre Kuhmo 1.7 sec on a cold tyre Quote
Terry Everall Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 Those 60ft times look a bit optimistic? The speed series guys cany beat 2.0 secs for 64ft and they are on very soft slick tyres!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quote
RS WST Posted August 7, 2006 Author Posted August 7, 2006 I have done several testing days at both elvington and at Santa Pod with all the official timing gear and have the slips and logging to back up what I say. Nothing optomistic about that me thinks. 2 sec is considered as slow for a rwd in drag racing. My mate was pulling a 1.7sec 60ft in a FWD car last Friday but he was using some super sticky slicks to do it. He also managed a 10.8 sec quarter at 130 which is faster than anyone on this board I bet. All in a Rover ZZR I must admit though that I generally pull between 2 and 2.2 sec 60ft's as Im not the best at launching and am a crap driver. Quote
steve_m Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 1.7s is pretty good What was your terminal and 1/4 time ? Quote
RS WST Posted August 7, 2006 Author Posted August 7, 2006 This was one of my slips with the best launch time Quote
RS WST Posted August 7, 2006 Author Posted August 7, 2006 I did a 11.07 @ 138 at Elvington a few weeks ago. Can show slip if required. The slip above was one of my best runs from this weekend at Santa Pod Also ran an 11.15 @ 127.42mph too Quote
