Mitchamidilly Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 Popped into Wesfield on Friday and had both gaiters fitted to the tunnel carpet. I had cut the holes very carefully but on trial fitting yesterday it is clear there is not enough "slack" in the gear stick gaiter. When I pull into 2nd or 4th the carpet itself lifts up I have the type 9 gearbox and have already shortenend the lever. The top of the gaiter sits on the enlarged part of the stick nicely. The two options I have are: 1. Take back to Wesfield who I am sure will sort. 2. Move the fulcrum to shorten the throw. Eventually I'd like to follow option 2anyhow. Problem is I could only find detailed instructions on how to turn down the shaft and shorten the lever. Have tried to dismantle assembly but am stuck at the mo. Advise as always most welcome. Cheers, Mitch Quote
Big R Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 I had the same problem - a light smear of ptfe based lubricant on the gearlever resolved the problem enough that I don’t notice it anymore... Quote
