JeffC Posted July 30, 2006 Author Posted July 30, 2006 good day, westys didnt stand a chance on the strip, some of the evos and skylines were doing times in the 9"s and hitting 200mph over the mile to give you an idea of how quick they were the drag hayabusa turbo bikes with wheelie bars running god knows what bhp on only beat them by a second and speeds were about the same The yellow zetec turbo was quick and put in some quick times , the busa turbos were going well, Nick had gearbox problems with his supacharged Busa and struggled on the strip finding false neutrals on most gear changes , but did well on the handling on the track and If he had been able to find all the gears I think he would have done a lot better, handling was won by a Dax busa turbo.. steve_m Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 handling was won by a Dax busa turbo.. Just spoken to Duncan and he's very happy ! He won the RWD handling and the handling overall. He said the top speed and quarter mile were a bit disapointing, 11 something quarter at 126mph and a max of only 141 mph which is over 10 mph down on his old car. Apparantly a Westfield with a turbo cossie (??) engine managed a quarter of 10.8s at 130mph - anybody on here ? Quote
scruffythefirst Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 QUOTE handling was won by a Dax busa turbo.. Has he got his going then, iirc he was borrowing one a while back. Love that car though Sounds like a good day Quote

Steve how does he get 141mph or indeed 151 on his old car ? any idea what diff it runs ? Im bouncing the limiter at 132 with a freelander diff the cossie belongs to polly_x Quote
rogerman Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 l had a good day at elvington as well lots to see westfields did there bit and they were sume fast ones l did the pit crew for chris snell just pit lane gets a bit out of hand with cars all over but it was a good day looking forward to next years Quote
RS WST Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 Bit disappointed with my result It seemed that most people in general were running slower times on the day. Not sure if it was the timing gear or what. The best I managed was an 11.7 at 127mph on 24psi For comparison I managed an 11.0 at 138mph on 17psi a few weeks earlier at Elvington. Need to check the car over to see if there was a problem Would like to do it again next year with some proper tyres like Mickey Thompson. My 60ft times were very poor at 2.25sec in comparison to some of the other RWD cars of 1.6sec Might be something to do with the driver and traction problems at it was all over the place upto forth gear. Had a great day though, Thanks for all those who turned up to watch. Quote
JeffC Posted July 31, 2006 Author Posted July 31, 2006 may have been the timing gear.. the bl**** lid got blown off loads of times with the bangs of the evos and Skylines , frightened the sh*t out me first time they did it Quote
slippy Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 Who's the guy sat on the bonnet looking like something out of the Happy Mondays ? I bet you were beating the f*nny off with a stick Quote

Love that car though Sounds like a good day No, it's still the borrowed car, he sold his last year. It's got as problem with the fueling running far too rich but the chap who owns it is happy with it as it scares him whitless ! (Uses a little piggy back ECU from Holeshot which is crude but can b made to work better than it is now) Quote

Nopt sure about the blue car. Quote

cast iron Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 was a fookin awsome disply of power, if not a bit Max Power! Looking at nicks car the questions were along the lines of it must av a turbo but i cant find it! The scruitineering was pretty casual carried out by someone with a lit cigarette in his gob I'm sure Nick could of come out top on the handling if it wasnt for that gearbox. Chris was pretty awesome, its great being in the crowd listening to some of the commets - why has he got hand controls! - followed by F me thats quick Noise of the day came from IMHO the RX7 - Deafning Quote
