Drilling the dashboard...

looks cool. I used rivnuts to secure the dash as it has had to come off so many times!! Have you mounted the wiper motor yet? The manual says on the left hand side but the loom is wired for it to be fitted on the right. I would have mounted it on the right as it would have saved a lot of agro! suggest you check with westfield 1st. Read your blog and yep I cracked my tub in the same place!!! on both sides. Still not sorted it yet but drilled two tiny holes at end of crack to stop any more probs

FWIW, the plastic cover that goes over the wiper motor is also designed for a right hand mounting.

However, note that the blades will settle on the passenger side of the car if you fit the motor on the other side of the car, unless you turn the wheelboxes through 180 degrees so that the drive cable sits above the wheelboxes and can make the drive cable tubes fit with them that way around.

Interesting the loom which came with my car has connection long enough to reach the left hand side where I have mounted the motor per manual??????

Loom came with kit in July last year, been a long year, but nearly there!

Thanks again all, wiper motor not yet fitted - comments noted though. currently just adjusting wiring to fit smiths dials (not that the book the masquerades as a manual mentions that)..also just discovered only got 4 dip switches on my smiths tacho...ho hum I'll be bothering Mark in the morning.

Thanks also for rivnut suggestion had seen that on searches of other threads on the dashboard and we will put rivnuts into strips of ali behind the dashboard and glue them onto back of scuttle (too cowardly to rivnut throught the plastic)

Currently we are only trial fitting the dash so we can join electrics up and get engine started prior to all the body rivets. We are very worried about nailing the body down too much without finding out all the problems with actually getting the thing running - on the basis that every other s&^&%$*g bit we've had to put on at least twice and suppose the same will be true with the body!!
