O/T Freezing water pipes

Quick question for the plumbers...

Need to change a kitchen sink, don't have a stop dangler....

Well there may be a stop dangler but it must be back in the street and serving several flats on one main, some of the owners of which i don't get on with.....  :bangshead:

Anyway, sink taps are soldered on to copper pipes, can i freeze both hot and cold, cut and fit new compression fittings / braided connections for new taps?

Can i get the freezing spray from B & Q or do i need a plumbers merchant?

Cheers.

Try these. , and when the pipes are frozen, cut the pipes and bung a couple of these on the ends (their push fit so no need for spanners or tape/sealer.

just phone the water board.They will locate your outside tap in the street etc.If it's knacked they will fit a new one.My mums was 20 feet under the front garden!!!! They had to dig it up and put it at hands reach.You can then put one in the house for safety sake.You 'MUST' have your own stopcock,not shared with others.

Little tip;

Use a roller type cutter (pipeslice if you can run to one) NOT hacksaw as any minute rough edge, even after smoothing, will damage the O-ring in any push fit fittings.

They will seal initially and lull you into a false sense of security, then start to leak months or years later. Seen loads do it, regardless of quality/care smoothing.

I would def locate your stop dangler now before you have a leak.
