JeffC Posted July 1, 2006 Posted July 1, 2006 In answer to my own question yesterday, Elvington does indeed have a very agressive surface, Ive pretty much butchered a set of slicks car has a lot more stonechips tonight than it had this morning anyway I enjoyed the day and good to put a few more names to faces.. quick thanks to Kevin for organizing it and getting me in as a cancellation Quote
Telski Posted July 1, 2006 Posted July 1, 2006 Sorry to hear about the stone chips and the scuffed slicks! Although at least you had fun and the weather was good for it! Can't wait to start building mine so I can get to a few track days! Quote
BuGsBuNnY Posted July 1, 2006 Posted July 1, 2006 I have finished off my 32Rs as well. I have saved them to kill on such a day so no harm done really. An excellent day, lovely to meet fellow wscc members and westie owners. Many thanks to (i forgot your name sorry), who kindly offered his foot pump and whoever offered the power station. Also, thanks to Kevin for the organisation and for offering me the place yesterday, top man! PS. Can we please not have that Ultima in our group next time? Some pics from the day: Quote
Telski Posted July 1, 2006 Posted July 1, 2006 Cool pictures! Some very nice cars! Glad to see that everyone had fun! Quote
JeffC Posted July 1, 2006 Author Posted July 1, 2006 Been there, done that, got the skidmarks... reckon you did just that hossing down the back straight Buggs.. I was leaving my braking from 122mph canny late for the left hander grip was amazing on concrete.. I looked in my mirror and saw a bl**** git cloud of smoke off your front tyres , was waiting for the crunch and for you to collect me well done for missing me Quote
BuGsBuNnY Posted July 1, 2006 Posted July 1, 2006 You were braking far too early really Grip was indeed amazing but pretty detrimental to the tyres. Hold on....whos that??? Quote
JeffC Posted July 1, 2006 Author Posted July 1, 2006 You were braking far too early really its ok for you honda boys , you would be braking from a much slower speed harewood who put that corner there Quote
Buzz Billsberry Posted July 2, 2006 Posted July 2, 2006 No offence to the owner of this car but this photo scares the s**t out of me. IF you have a roll in this car be it on the track or road... You will be dead or seriously injured PLEASE PLEASE fit a RAC roll bar.OK the roll may never happen but me personally I wouldn't edge my bets. I'm not having a go or trying to be a smart A*** just passing on a little advice/knowledge. You may already have plans to do it...sooner the better. I ran my V8 all last year with the chocolate westfield 'u' rollbar on. When I went out in it it was always in the back of my mind; the thought of rolllng the car or dropping it in a dyke upside down (thats the gully type dyke!) You can keep the boot box lid its an easy conversion. Buzz Quote
Buzz Billsberry Posted July 2, 2006 Posted July 2, 2006 [ bl**** hell Karl this looks like White Sands! excellent weather! Buzz Quote
pistonbroke Posted July 2, 2006 Posted July 2, 2006 Buzz with a head like your's ..................... Why would ya need a rollbar Quote
Bones Posted July 2, 2006 Posted July 2, 2006 Nice pic's, did'nt recognise Elvington in the dry, it looked some airfield in Nevada. Please can we have some weather like that on the 15th. Quote
Karl Woolf Posted July 2, 2006 Posted July 2, 2006 [ bl**** hell Karl this looks like White Sands! excellent weather! Buzz yeah Buzz it was acracking day for it, shame mine was cut short with a dead alternator at lunch. Big thanks for all the push starts, and to Glen H for swapping batteries backwards and forwards to get me home Quote
Danny Posted July 2, 2006 Posted July 2, 2006 Excellent day! Everyone was right, it certainly does rip your tyres up! Was worth it though! The bean can mod was used effectivley also. Karl, glad you got home. I know what you will be doing this week. Quote
