Mike Lloyd Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 I need to buy a set of instruments. From what I can see I have several options which will all cost a similar amount. Westfield Supplied VDO Smiths ETB I assume westfield items are of a similar quality to VDO? Anyone got any recommendations which way to go Quote
Peter M Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 The black faced that westfield supply are VDO's and the white faced are Smiths Quote
peterg Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 Big vote for ETB, I bought a set for my car back in 2001/2 and the backup and support was first class (I had probs setting the rev counter with an early Weber Alpha) I sent it back for recalibration and it was returned next day FOC Quote
Paul Ash Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 VDO from Lowtension gets my vote. Very helpfull, comes as a complete kit Speedo/ tacho/ Fuel/ Water temp/ Oil press/ & volts if I recall correctly & also included was i.e with fuel tank sender, coolant sender oil press sender etc. Only extra thing I had to purchase was the speed transducer. stryder Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 I bought Telemetrix, good price, good looks(light grey dials), light weight Quote
timandchris Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 VDOs typically easiest to fit as the loom is normally ready for them. Smiths has nice white dials but a trickier fit of speed transducer, (have to get separate loom wires back into scuttle probably from front wheel) several other sensors also change as you change instruments, can't remember exactly what! Tigger Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 ETB get my vote, very helpful, nice gauges that work without any problems and come in various colours like Yellow which is nice if you have a yellow car. Used them in my last car too and they're still going strong Tigger Quote

I am still undecided. Did you have to make loom modifications. Although I do not think you went for the WF loom anyway? Quote
