rm163603 Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 I had a megane as a company car for a couple of years and the seats were by far the most comfortable I've ever used. Even the headrests are comfortable. The laguna is comfy as well but a bit of a barge. Quote
Ian Podmore Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 Drove the Octavia 2.0 diesel with DSG auto box this morning at Millbrook. Absolutely great gearbox. The only 'auto slushyness' was on pulling away, otherwise you really couldn't fault it. It was always in the right gear, and the manual operation is very positive. It felt more than quick enough with the 140bhp engine as well, and that was after driving the vRS 200bhp version immediately before. And that was very very good. Managed to test the ESP on the vRS after very nearly missing the exit off the 2 mile bowl at about 70mph with less than 50m to go ..... And the exit is at 90 degrees to the 4/5 lanes unlike a normal 'motorway sliproad' Oops. I absolutely hated the Vauxhall / Saab / Alfa 1.9 150bhp diesel. Turbo lag like I've never experienced in anything else before. The 2.4 Alfa diesel though was something else. Wow! Quote
studbuckle Posted July 10, 2006 Author Posted July 10, 2006 Resurecting this thread. Drove the Astra 120 ps Design at the weekend. What a cracking Chassis. Hate to admit it but that's a really well developed drive. Even the 'lunatic button' was good fun. However, it's too small. What looks like a medium sized car is certainly not TARDIS like in side. With the drivers seat all the way back on its runners I still wanted another inch of legroom and passenger wa the same. With both front seats back you'd have to be a toddler to get in the back and the boot was tiny too. Oh well... Next test is the Seat Altea and then the Leon. Trying to get hold of a Focus, and C5 as well, ideally for Llandow weekend but nothing found as yet. Quote
