dern Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 Due to unforeseen circumstances (my bike blew up on the way to work) I may sell the westfield because the amount of time I'm spending on remedial work on cars is getting absurd and I could really do with one reliable car. So, I need a rough idea on how much it's worth right now at the height of summer. The spec is... 98 Westfield SEight in black 11 months mot, 5 months tax 4.6l rover v8 supplied by John Eales apparently with forged pistons and all sorts of goodies which puts out 280-300bhp... this engine only has about 2000 miles on it and only requires a visible smoke test at mot time... this engine would have cost a small fortune to build I suspect Webber carb with pancake filter R380 gearbox (strengthened according to last owner) with expensive clutch (no details I'm afraid) 3.62 LSD New drive shafts lobros 4 pot wilwood calipers, big discs in good cond with virtually new polymatrix e pads Sierra rear calipers Repackable 6"x30" silencers (side mounted) which have just been repacked and measured 95db at the last track day Westfield aeroscreen RAC rollbar 4 point harnesses 16" TSW wheels with A032s on them with one, maybe two trackdays left in them but not road legal 15" Westfield 3 spokes with Eagle NCT2s on with loads of tread New bonnet fitted Home made tyre rack so you can take a 2nd set of tyres to the track with you Tonneau cover plus full cover For the right price I'll put 4 new T1Rs on the 16" wheels. It goes without saying that this car is very very fast indeed. It's not cosmetically perfect by any stretch but it doesn't look at all a mess. Some of the chrome on the wishbones has flaked away and there's an odd scratch here and there. If you're looking for a concours car then this isn't it but it does look good in my opinion. The bit that lets it down most are the front wings which don't look fitted properly and one of the wings has a star crack on it. I may buy some CF lookie likies and put them on properly. Can anyone give me a rough idea of what I could advertise this car at please? I can't afford to give it away but I don't want the earth for it and have it sat around all summer. I've turned this into a poll so you can say anonymously. Thanks, Mark Quote
chrisbin Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 Get the cycle wings done and spend an afternoon with the wet and dry/T-cut etc.....it may not increase the price you get (but could), but will certainly help it sell. Good luck! Quote
steve_m Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 Also get firm details on the engine/gearbox spec, will make a difference. Quote
dern Posted June 6, 2006 Author Posted June 6, 2006 Also get firm details on the engine/gearbox spec, will make a difference. I'll give John Eales a call with the engine number and find out the spec of the engine. It cost something like £8500 to build from memory so it must be pretty good. I'll price up some front wings and some tyres and get those fitted too. Regards, Mark Quote
Buzz Billsberry Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 Clutch will probably an Helix Motorsport if from Eales at around £325 a pop with the cover as I have the same in mine its done 20,000 miles of trackdays and touring pretty good kit. I would hold your breather with John Eales he's useless at returning calls there no phone in the work shop so he picks up his messages at nite and maybe he'll get back to you if you're lucky. I left him a message about buying a trap door sump around 3 weeks ago still has come back!! What stage heads are they? I assume stage 3 with the power output Are they tubulaer manifolds or cast? The R380 standard box are pretty bullet proof Mines done 20K with 290 Bhp I would of thought £9.5 to £10.5K Buzz Quote
dern Posted June 6, 2006 Author Posted June 6, 2006 Thanks Buzz. I don't know very much about the engine apart from the fact that the previous owner got a pretty much as new 4.6 taken out of a range rover and gave it to John with instructions to give it everything. The only thing he mentioned specifically were the forged pistons. I'll try and get in touch with John and see what I can find out. Do you mean the exaust or the inlet manifold? The inlet is a cast ally edelbrock and the exaust down pipes are stainless tube and not cast. Regards, Mark Quote
