Man On The Clapham Omnibus Posted June 2, 2006 Posted June 2, 2006 I just had a call on my company provided Orange mobile:- "I'm calling from Fones for Oooooh" ....said to rhyme with 'poo', in a heavy accent, and with the obligatory rising inflection at the end. He wanted to sell me a new contract, I assume - I didn't give him time to try, I told him it was a company 'phone and that I have no control over it. "Click" What kind of people are they employing that cannot even pronounce their employer's name? Quote
*Emma* Posted June 2, 2006 Posted June 2, 2006 perhaps he's spent too much time with small children? "Mr Motco, have we got wuvvwy phones for ooo? Aaah, yes, ooo would like that, wouldn't ooo?" Quote
bhouse Posted June 2, 2006 Posted June 2, 2006 Or maybe he's not actuallly from Phones 4 U. Many of the really dodgy mobile companies call with an ambiguous namecheck at the start of the call to make you think they're calling from a reputable company. Quote
Man On The Clapham Omnibus Posted June 2, 2006 Author Posted June 2, 2006 Oftel records show that numbers starting 020 8539 are allocated to BT. Isn't that interesting? Quote
Blatman Posted June 2, 2006 Posted June 2, 2006 020 8xxx are simply London phone numbers. It'll be a canvasser working from home from a big list... It's a BT phone number in so far as the guy has BT as his telephone network provider... Quote
Man On The Clapham Omnibus Posted June 2, 2006 Author Posted June 2, 2006 It said that it was potentially invalid and that it was allocated to BT. But, when I tried another number (0208 578 xxxx) it said the same and I know that number is kosher and is a private house. So, it looks as if you're right - AGAIN! Quote
Mark Stanton Posted June 2, 2006 Posted June 2, 2006 and is a private house send them some junk mail Quote
