CrashBangWallop Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 Don't get sucked in by the TomTom blurb. They all get you from A-B better than a map would (on most occasions). I'm more than happy with my CoPilot Live 6 on my PDA. Has all post-code entry malarky and as many POI's you can fit on the SD card. Quote
amc_black Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 Tom Tom one I have been using for a while now and its just so easy to use. Even better than intergrated Landrover and BMW systems I have used. Really recommend it. 2/3hour internal battery is a real bonus too. Quote
7SE Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 I've used both TomTom and CoPilot 5 s/ware on PDAs. Didn't like CoPilot at all, got lots of 'strange' instructions like "keep left ahead" to avoid driving into an Autobahn service area and lots of cases of turnings not being spoken. Whereas with TomTom I find that it is possible to drive on the voice alone. Quest has a v.small screen and fiddly to define route. TomTom do a waterproof unit, but not in your price range. Quote
the_fbi Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 Tomtom is good, I've used it since Version 1, through to 5 and Mobile. The Garmin i3 may have a very small screen, and input may be a bit awkward, but in reality i very very rarely look at my screen unless in I'm central London and things get a bit tight. As long as they give good voice announcements then anything will be OK. Garmin have a very good track history too, even longer than Tomtoms. For £99 I don't think you can go wrong. You'd get your money back on eBay after a few months if you weren't happy, or sell it down the pub easy enough. Quote
Gooders Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 Garmin Quest gets my vote compact and well made always got me to where i wanted with no silly detors !!!! Gooders Quote
PhilH Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 Tom Tom one is good.Mine wont last 2/3 hours tho without being pluged in to the car. Phil Quote
brianm Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 Navman 520 excellant, but like all the others don't switch off yer brain, otherwise it'll ave you up every cart/farm track you never even new existed With all these systems what you set in the settings thing, shortest, quickest, pref for Mways etc is paramount. For instance set mine today for quickest route from Chesterfield to Holmes Chappel. Gave a route of over 95mile, it's actually 52miles Do not disengage your brain. B. Quote
Mark Stanton Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 Started on Tom Tom 3 now on Tom Tom 5 on PDA - always found it easy to use and reliable - full UK and european maps Quote
