Willow Posted May 23, 2006 Posted May 23, 2006 Remember to inflate your tyres for extra grip on those track days chaps! http://www.vxronline.co.uk/messageboard/viewtopic.php?t=714 Quote
chazpowerslide Posted May 23, 2006 Posted May 23, 2006 It's a pitty Westies dont have back seats, think of how much weight you'd save just by folding them down. PMSL Chaz. Quote
markcoopers Posted May 23, 2006 Posted May 23, 2006 Everyone.....Martin has history in this arena Quote
Gavin Posted May 23, 2006 Posted May 23, 2006 Think he got his technical tips from the guy at my local Halfrauds How can laying his seats flat reduce weight ?? He says it is like when you crawl flat accross a frozen lake !! Doh, this doesn't reduce the weight it just spreads the weight load across the surface. Check out his profile ! Interests: Driving, Music, Cooking, Animals, Cycling. Oh and my favourite, blagging test drives in Performance Cars and Supercars. Would you really let him out in a ferrari for a test drive with 89psi in the tyres Quote
perksy Posted May 23, 2006 Posted May 23, 2006 " Vertical seats exert more downward force because the energy is focused on a smaller surface area. When horizontal, the weight is spread and so is less per Centimetre squared " Wonder if He's had it in a windtunnel to prove this one Wind up Quote
Jack T Posted May 23, 2006 Posted May 23, 2006 Remember lads keep those cars clean to keep em more aerodynamic and get extra power What a load of bull Quote
pistonbroke2 Posted May 23, 2006 Posted May 23, 2006 Just what I wanted. Something good to laugh at. I wonder what Animals he cooks. Quote
pistonbroke Posted May 23, 2006 Posted May 23, 2006 Dont knock it , I for one have to agree with the guy . Although having 38 psi in each tyre will make them heavier and therefore negate the weight saving factor of the lowered seats It can be shown that any lowering of rear seats will directly effect the Center of Gravity and therefore result in a lower polar moment of inertia , thus improving cornering power That is why little fat A*** drivers ( no names here ) are generally quicker around a given corner than tall drivers with big heads e.g. J Clarkson Quote
ljsanders Posted May 23, 2006 Posted May 23, 2006 Isn't it interesting how Westy owners end up on such forums.... (joking! ) Quote
