Mid life crisis Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 Hi all, will be taking delivery of a Smart Roadster for her indoors this weekend. Question as it is a turbo, all be it 698cc, anyone know if you can chip them. At 720 kg any extra horses I am sure will improve progress. Quote
funbobby Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 Have a look at this Steve, careful though Mercedes are very clever at detecting chips and if its new you will invalidate your warranty and be on the computer of every Merc dealer. But if you sell it privately who cares Click it like its hot Quote
ljsanders Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 I'm not sure I'd like to chance an CEC engine that small pushing 150+bhp/litre. But I'd agree, would be quite a bit of fun. Quote
Mid life crisis Posted May 22, 2006 Author Posted May 22, 2006 Hi Duncan thanks for that, "Page bookmarked" yes it is a new one. Do you think Jane should put a few thou miles on the car before doing the mod, and will Mercedes spot it has been done. Sorry forgot to mention it's the 101BHP model Steve Quote
funbobby Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 I'll put a few thousand miles on it for you at least I can reach the pedals in it There maybe a Merc friendly chip you can get Quote
slippy Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 Evening Mid life a generic stick on chip is easy spot try investigating the remap option Quote
Mid life crisis Posted May 22, 2006 Author Posted May 22, 2006 Hi Duncan the only reason she has got it, is she can't reach the peadels in the F*****n Westfield ! Congrats on your new purchase. When am I going to see you out in it for the first time. Car looks very quick, be carefull. Steve Quote
funbobby Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 As soon as Slippy and I have grown a bit well have it sorted in a few days Must admit after a Pinto it does intimidate somewhat, but then thats a good thing at first Quote
Mid life crisis Posted May 22, 2006 Author Posted May 22, 2006 Evening Mid life a generic stick on chip is easy spot try investigating the remap option Hi Slippy No idea what the differance is. On my Volvo I have a box with two leads on it, I unplug the sensor plug from the engine and bridge the connection in series with the two leads on the box. Then when I take the car for service I remove the box. Is this detectable by Mercedes. ?? Steve Ditto Funbobby nice purchase Quote
