samcooke Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 Now my Fury works I'm stupidly over confident in my engineering skills and as luck would have it my 73 VW camper won't be needed for much camping next year, so I'll have a nice car sized space in the garage for a project I can half finish and then throw away. What shall I do then? Quote
scruffythefirst Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 I have a very interesting idea for a 4wd mid engined mini, using a yb turbo and a skyline box with adjustable center diff. Quote
scruffythefirst Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 Got to see that - scooby turbo in a camper... been done Quote

Major Stare Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 Z cars Mini wth Honda VTEC turbo/supercharger Quote
Phil. S Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 How about fiat 126 with a bike engine:p Someone's done a smart car with a bike engine. Also Jamie Oliver has a Porsche engine in the back of his camper van. An Elise with a decent engine has got to be the one. Not original, but it just makes so much sense.. Quote

scott beeland Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 It would have to be a zcars mini / type r for me Quote
matthew h Posted May 23, 2006 Posted May 23, 2006 You can buy an Elise with a type R supercharged engine (£15k) so for me it has to be a camper van! Quote
neilb Posted May 23, 2006 Posted May 23, 2006 What about putting a v6 in the boot of a run of the mill hatchback clio v6 style... Quote
Martin Keene Posted May 23, 2006 Posted May 23, 2006 Out of that list it would have to be a rotary powered MX5. I quite like the MX5, mass produced jap reliability, not bad looking, reasonably light and rear wheel drive. It's just a shame it's a bit... well... wet. Stripped out a bit, and crucially kept looking as standard as possible, with a massively powerful rotary has the appeal of embrassing lots of expensive stuff at the traffic light grand prix... Other than that I've always had an un-explainable urge to shoe horn a small block, hell why not a big block!, into the back of a Mini van, but instead of standard looking it would have to be ratty looking. Or how about a Chesil Speedster with a 911 Turbo motor in the back of it? Quote
scruffythefirst Posted May 23, 2006 Posted May 23, 2006 rx7 engine in the back of a mini - if you can find a fwd gearbox that will fit then it should bolt onto the z cars frame fairly easily. Got a bit of a softspot for rx7 with huuuuge turbo's Quote
