6 and 3 years old.

Yeh re weight etc, hence looking at an Elise, but double checking to see if I've missed anything! Didn't know if any TVRs, Porches fitted the bill??

Looking at an Elise? It's a 2 seater...

The criteria of soft top and 4 seats and fun/chuckable/trackdayable is going to be tough to meet. As others have said, if you sacrifice the soft top you're in Cerbera/Porsche/RX8 territory. I'd also be looking at M3's or M5's, or depending on how you feel about older Fords, a Sierra or Escort Cosworth.

is it not an oxymoron - sportscar and four seat?

fwiw, seeing as the kids are involved you probably dont want out and out pace, just fun and entertaining.

TR5, you will still get the kids in the back until they are about 10/11 (just). pick up a really nice well sorted one for 10k

cheers all,

Porsche sounds worth a look, as maybe does the mini cooper S convertible, still really hanker after a 2 seater though!!

I guess if I forget the softtop some other Porches will come into the picture??

Wonder how long it will take for Jag XK 2nd hand prices to drop ;)

Greg

Hi Greg

Reckon you're searching for the Holy Grail cos I've tried to come up with an answer and failed.....M3 is about the nearest but I just can't get my head around living with that image...!!

Jag is worth a look but isn't really sporty enough imo.

I've decided to stick with the 3 car route and hence looking at Elise/VX220 etc

hi Chris,

Yeh my thinking as well, but just canvassing for opinions before an "honest" debate with the missus!!

Cheers,

with kids at the age yours are i would look at a 911 cab at whatever fits your budget .

the 968 was the a good handeling car but when they ripped the roof off its suffered hugely , there are also expensive issues with the 968 drivetrain to be considered and a common problem as the car was aonly produced for a shourt time .

911 cab is the only car i can see that fits all your criteria and before someone bleats ,we have travelled reasonable distances in a 911 with 4 adults , so your kids would be fine.
