4 seater soft top sports car for weekend use??

Recommended Posts

Since selling my Westie last year, I've been angling after an Elise for some time to "supplement" my A4 diesel estate!

However missus reckons I should be looking out for a 4 seater, so we can use it together.

So is there anything out there that fits the bill?

Would be a 2nd car, needs to be fun to drive, reliable, would be used for work on decent days, and needs to be ok for the odd trackday, soft top, circa £15k I reckon!

Cheers,

Greg

Just how big is she? :o

<< edited as i totaly missed the soft top part..doh!

If only they did a soft top Evo :p

What about a Saab 9-3 Turbo soft top?.If you get a car under budget you can always spend a few grand on the engine etc and get them running at decent BHP's.

Yeh re weight etc, hence looking at an Elise, but double checking to see if I've missed anything! Didn't know if any TVRs, Porches fitted the bill??

you would struggle to drive a porch

there is sod all room in the back of a 911 for people,

tigra maybe? not seen the to new one  but an ex had the old one and could fit her nieces of a similar age in the back, very tune able and good in a crash.

apart from that i think you are Audi , BMW , Saab Tertiary.

at fear of being ripped to bits street ka?

305,307 cc, citroen c5 (worked for James bond).golf clipper?

time to own up to your age......get a Triumph Stag and a pipe !!

Nearest I have to a family soft top is a 1954 Series 1 Land Rover ....kids love it....and great to go to Oulton Park in.

Do they still do Golf GTi Convertibles ?

I would of suggested a TVR Cerbera, but i assumed everyone would start saying "he said reliable".

Plus 15k will only get an early example of one i assume if age is a concern.

I think you are going to have to forget the soft top part if you want a 4 seater that's far more entertaining than a Saab turbo and can accomodate the family.

As i said before my edit, my friend got an Evo 6 for those exact reasons.

Incredible levels of grip and speed but you can throw all the family in it and chuck half the house in the boot.

Subaru impreza sti with ppp better ride than an evo and serviced less.

M3 cab if you don't mind the older shape?.

Why dont you look into a Porsche 968 Cab. The budget would buy you a nice vehicle. Or you could go for a 944 Turbo Cab which would also fit the bill but looks a bit more dated. The 968 is regarded by many as the best handling Porsche ever but I suppose the image of a front engined being a "Poor Mans Porsche" might stand in the way of some people. Depending on where your based there are a number of specialists who look after them fairly cheaply now.

Not much of a track car but would go for a Volvo C70 you could get a mint nearly new one on that budget, Especially if it was a black turbo one with the GT pack

P.s i must be getting old :D
